I used to use the Assault Rifle AUG in the old mod with Double Tap (and a silencer), so I like this gun, especially for hipfiring. Hacker is great for awareness. I got Gambler naturally which is fitting. Can't go wrong with a .44 Mag or M32. Stun Grenades can kill people in Last Stand in the regular cod4. Haven't had a scenario against Second Chance users yet. You might be able to detonate a claymore too. Using a stun grenade to throw into buildings that have Betties or Clays can help you flush people out with your grenade or grenade launcher. Stuns can also be used for direct impact kills.

I joined the MW2 server and went to spectator today and after a few seconds I see this error and then the server crashed. It was on the broadcast2 map.

This class isn't so bad. 

1.  The game is almost 20 years old, so there are not a ton of new maps coming out anymore.

2.  Of the 2,000 ish maps in the COD4 downloader, only about 550 or so actively work on the mw2 freezetag mod.

3.  Also, many of the maps are made for deathrun, zombie, sniper only, etc., and will not work with the freezetag mod.

4. Maps that haven't been tested -  that requires time and effort.  Need at least one admin and two other volunteers to test maps.  The maps have to be uploaded, made sure they don't crash the server, test for killstreaks and make sure round changes don't crash.  I've found that for every 30 or so maps that I've uploaded, about half crash the server, so that narrows the testing choices by 50% right there.

5.  There are currently 75+ rotations that have been created by many admins, members, and non-members.  We go through those rotations on a mostly weekly basis, and yes, some maps are repeated if they are in several rotations.  If you've created a rotation and we've used it, it won't come back around for quite some time as we work through all the other rotations.  If you submit more than one rotation, the subsequent rotations need to be different than the first one, or else it won't get used as a unique rotation.  

6.  If you want to help with map testing or creating a rotation, please let me know.  We can set up some sort of schedule if enough people want to help test maps.  I can also give you the guidelines for creating a rotation.

7.  And finallly, it's not easy or likely to please everyone.  Some complain it's the same old maps, others complain when there are new maps that they don't know.  There are complaints from people who don't like sniper maps, or they don't like small maps, and so on.  Map rotations are generally created to include small, medium, and large maps (usually 3-4), so that all playing styles can have fun in the server.  A total of 25 maps is the ideal number for a rotation.

I know we're all stoked about COD4 ftag, but those huge maps are sometime kinda killing the vibe. What if we switched from best of 7 to best of 5? We'd get those matches over quicker and keep things hype!
Or best of 5 across the board?
Could make things more interesting ?

HELP....

I'll explain.

New PC. Got game on PC now. Patched it. downloaded all user maps. Downloaded HLSW like I had before to access the game. Put in server details . Tried to connect then get a message in the middle of the COD 4 load screen saying - " Error Server is a different Version  1.7" then I have to exit.

My question is , how do you guys connect to the freezetag server that I play on. 

Am I being a complete Idiot (lol) and going about it the worng way. Is there an easy fix to sort this as I am missing playing the game and don't want to lose it.

If you can explain  it please let me know........ but do so in layman's terms as I am not as computer literate as some of you guys and gals.

The only version of Rotu that has worked for me is 0.7 alpha.

beacuse it just doesn't boost anymore.

It's obvious that Steam has screwed the pooch with some sort of update, decided to back everyone down to 1.6 then update everyone to a non-standard 1.8 community update that we don't currently support and our COD4 numbers are likely suffering because of it.

This doesn't effect Disk based windows install folks, Linux based folks or Mac App store based folks just yet.

Some Options May be:

Go to 1.8, it's been out for a while but 1.8 is not official and it's not available for Linux or Mac and may never be so that cuts out a percentage of our players (and members) that won't ever be able to play on our servers if we do that.

Have our Sr folks/programmer types that have some clout Talk to Steam and ask them WTF is going on and maybe throw any weight we have around and see if there is a change that can be made or find out why this is happening?

Stay the Course and see COD4 dwindle down to nothing,  which will be what the folks who play the other games have been hoping for the last decade plus would happen
