Obviously I am not a member Mofo, but I have been around on idiots for a fair while now.

I played the BETA for a good 3-4 hours tonight and had a good time!

 

We managed to get me, Ukildme, comfort, S.t.a.l.k.e.r , Cobryis & St33L on the same server...

 

 

I had a good couple of hours on it last night too, it's pretty darn good.

 

I watched a few vids of the caspian map gameplay and that looks awesome with all the fighter jets and tanks etc.

 

Can't wait for it to come out!

Also looking at the pics your posted it looks like it only has 512mb of ram , have you considered just putting in some extra ram?

 

A friend of mines laptop was running dirt slow , I took a look at it for him. It took like 5 mins to get windows vista up then proberly 30 seconds everytime you wanted to open something.

 

I checked in the task manager and it was using like 95% of its ram just on tickover. As soon as you tried to open anything it would max out at 100% and then take forever to do anything.

 

I suggested doubling the ram , he gave me the go ahead so I ordered some more , whacked it in and jeez what a difference.

From pressing the on button it was surfing the net within 1 min! And programs opened within 1 to 2 seconds.

 

You get what I am sayin.

 

Just another option for you which might be easier.

 

Obviously a fresh install would speed things up some more also.

I got an Asus P5VD2-VM mobo laying around doing nothing , it takes Intel core 2 cpu's .

 

Yours if you can get a cpu to go with it.

 

Would imagine postage to be between 5 to 10 quid.

@Nightmare - I had a look at your pc under "my PC" in your post , it looks very nice! You having fun with your new set up?

 

I pushed my cpu last night to see how far it could go just for benchmarks and stuff , managed a stable 5ghz at 1.46vcore. Hit a max temp of 82 degrees after 30 mins at 100% load.

 

Back to my 24/7 clock now , but amazing how well these new chips clock!

Just currious. and what cooling are you running?

Wonder how it will scale on what chipset in multi GPU configurations or if it is just a work horse like the I7 was soposed to be.

TBH it hit 82 within the first 5 mins of prime , it then fluctuated between low 70s back up to 82 for the remainder of the 30 mins. 

I saw no point in running it any longer seeing as I am never going to run the cpu at 5ghz for a 24/7 setup.

 

Like I say it was just for a couple of benchmarks and it certainly got a very good score in one of them , passmark performance test it scored 13025 for the cpu!

 

I have a thermaltake frio for the cooler , and have the fan speeds about 1/2 way , its far too noisy on high.

 

24/7 clock is 4.6ghz which I feel is a nice safe level for these crazy new cpu's.

I just received my  2 X 560Ti Twin Frozr II OCed...

 

 

The cards came with an extra game I wasn't expecting...Lara Croft and the guardian of light...whatever...freebie! Also got Mafia2+Just Cause 2+ 3Dmarks11 advanced...

 

I ran quick benchies:

3Dmarks06 = 31678

3Dmarks Vantage = 31127

3Dmarks11 = P7852

 

Not bad $230 per card....better performance ration than the GTX590 I had...

 

highest temperature reached...66 Degrees celsius...pretty darn cool compared to GTX200-series and GTX400 Series...

And just out of interest how do they score in passmark performance test? Not sure if that program recognizes 2 cards as I know someone with 2x 580's and they only score 3700

Dam man , 13 hrs , sounds like a nightmare!

Mine took around 1hr build time , couple of hrs installed shite then a couple of hrs messin in the bios clocking and stuff.

 

I have the same ssd as you and same memory I think , both run very nice.

 

Am sure you will be real happy with your new rig.

Ace mod kicks ass mofo , used to play it loads a couple of years back , infact thats how I came about finding XI , just happened to play on that server and loved it , then I did a search for the website.

 

I had a quick go on it a minute ago and it still rocks , hopefully catch ya on there one day or night.

Then of course the HD 5850 will need upgrading soon , it will be either spend £200-300 GBP on a new one or perhaps buy another HD 5850 for £100 and run them in crossfire.

was that the overclock (4.6) in turbo mode or idle ?

Speaking for myself , I am sure mofo is the same tho...

 

I have simply changed the mulitplier to 46 and set the voltage to 1.36vcore.

 

I have disabled all power saving modes , it runs at 4.6 permanently.

What are you thinking then? Is it just a single card you are after?

Lol , testing complete and no smoke came out which is always a bonus.

 

Next day delivery ok? 

I just ran it in high , passed fine , max temp 63 degrees.

 

I then ran a "maximum" test , let it run for 5 mins , cpu temp the same , not sure what else it was doing so stopped it there to be safe.

 

Recon the system is pretty dam stable anyway.

Don't want to blow this badboy of a new system up just yet lol , so perhaps I will just stick with the standard test til I read a bit more about how the test works

Ok so I downloaded it and ran it as it was , it was 5 runs , and the stress level was "standard"

 

Is this the best mode to run it in?

 

Seems a very short test too?

 

Max temp hit during the test was 61 degrees.

Just thought I would check back in to see how your rig is running now mofo?

 

Really happy with mine , still running 4.6ghz at 1.36vcore. Think the thermal paste has bedded in now as the temps have dropped even more. Highest temp after 30 mins of prime95 is now 58 degrees! ( I added a couple of new case fans , a 120 rear and 140 top which has proberly helped a bit too)

 

Its been totally rock solid , no crashes at all.

Oh and btw , if you change windows to basic instead of aero when you run the 2d graphics test it will proberly double your score.

 

My old 5850 hits over 1000 on the 2d test.

Holy smokes , thats a heavy score on passmark! Highest I have ever seen!

Thats some serious frame rates being pushed out there.

Recon a nice 27" monitor would do the job.

Oh yes , the new EFI bios is sweet to work with , great to use the mouse in it and is pleasing on the eye too!

 

Your 590 is gonna be awesome , far too much money for me atm , in the uk they cost the same as all the bits I have just bought put together!
