OK, tried deleting map files, still same problem. Reset my video card, tried reloading patch 1.3, nuttin'. HELP!!!

I'm on 1.3, will try deleting maps. End of the world is apparently scheduled for 6 p.m. local time Saturday so I'd better hurry.

Hey guys (and gals), I've been trying to connect to play the last few days and keep running into trouble. Specifically, it will connect and authorize to the server and then display the splash screen for the current map for a few seconds before the screen goes blank. I tried just letting it sit for a bit thinking maybe the server was slow, but eventually ended up having to kill the game in task manager. I also thought I'd maybe somehow ran out of disk space (I play on a 9 year old rig) but that was OK too. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks in advance. Enjoy playing with the usual suspects, although I gotta wonder when someone's gonna give me my XI tags. Cobra

Finally got registered on the site. I've been a semi-regular on the CoD2 server for a little while now. I was previously in the No Mercy >NM< clan which was completely run and gun. You got 'punished' if you stayed in one spot for more than like 15 seconds. It gave you something like a Stone Cold Stunner and you were frozen for a little bit. Anyway, because of that I learned to play on a constant dead run. Unfortunately I tend to run into a lot of deaths because of that. I've enjoyed playing on the XI server, good bunch of guys, and I can usually hold my own; my only goal each map is more kills than deaths. I'm only able to go to CoD2 cuz my rig won't support anything newer. Have CoD4 but I have the wrong bus and can't find a video card that works. A little about me personally, I live in central Iowa, work in Information Security for a large nation-wide bank, married 28 years, 2 kids, daughter married and son a senior in college. Spend most of my free time playing baseball, basketball, or messing with my 3 Mustangs. One of of course a Cobra, thus the handle. Like coming to the XI server to unwind and work off a little agression. Probably should mention I don't have the gear for TeamSpeak but enjoy listening to the commentary.
