  • Running Commentary

A blog-like running commentary of what is being done to keep the website running smoothly (well kind of) and what is being done to support the core services such as Teamspeak and Discord.

    What is Tapatalk?
Tapatalk is an application to allow access to Internet forums on mobile devices, developed by Tapatalk, Inc. Tapatalk is primarily designed to provide improved forum access for mobile platforms over access provided by the forum software itself.
Well that sounds like a load of twaddle..
That's because I just copied it from Wikipedia  Anyway Tapatalk is now enabled on the website which means that you can use it's mobile app to access the forums and make posts etc.
It's a useful app and although it's only used by a few people I hope that the effort of maintaining it will be justified by its use

This update only applies to COD2/4/5, Minecraft and Insurgency admins. When you navigate to the forums index there is a block above the forums, this will display a list of topics that are either in the admin section or the appeals section for the game that you admin.
Hopefully this should allow you to keep track on appeal posts.

This update only applies to COD2/4/5 admins.
I have added a block onto the homepage that calls on the admin portal API and retrieves the latest ten bans and displays them. You can click on the players name to go to the players profile on the admin portal. Next to the player name is the ban state - ideally any bans that display (Unclaimed) should be claimed by the banning admin.

We use OVH for our dedicated server hosting and they provide an external firewall for some added protection, as such it would be silly for us not to utilise that as much as possible. One of the large benefits of using an external firewall is the DDOS protection that they offer and the tools for mitigation. With the help of Nostradewmus I have identified all the servers that we run on both boxes and we now have firewalls enabled for all IP addresses.

You can now search by IP Address on our Admin Portal website. The feature will allow admins to search by a full or partial IP Address and see any player profiles that have matches. This should aid in linking player accounts when players change GUIDs. This should still be used with caution as it is a known problem that the game servers can return garbled player data and therefore IP Addresses and player profile data is not 100% accurate or reliable.
There have been two new pages added to the Admin Portal, the first is unclaimed bans and the second is 'my bans'. To access these new pages go to the game index page and then use the new navigation bar:

I have created a new fallen members page and added our fallen members from the past website over. It's very important that we remember those members that have passed away whilst wearing our tags as those members have been with us until their end and that dedication should be respected.
The new page can be found here: https://www.xtremeidiots.com/fallen-members/ and there is a ;oink on the lower right of the home page.

I have migrated the old junior clan members list from the old version of the website to this one. This has involved creating a new database for the members and manually copying over the data (72 members). The new page will be maintained by ROCKAPE and he should be contacted if new entries need to be added or existing ones edited/removed. The new page can be found here: https://www.xtremeidiots.com/junior-members/ and there is a link on the main navigation bar under 'Members'

To support some of the games that our members are playing I have added three new forums, these are:
ARMA2  Battlefield 1 Left 4 Dead 2 Along with that I have added game icons to all of the forums in the games forum section:
