1 head of red cabbage

1 lbs of bacon

1 cup of sugar

1 cup of white vinagar

1 cup of poppy seeds

 

First cook all bacon must be crispy and save the grease

Chop the cabbage

add all but the bacon to the bacon grease cook over med to high heat covered for about 30 to 40 min until the cabbage is soft

Crumble up the bacon spread over the top and serve

 

This is an old french Canadian dish that has been passed down in my family

 

Just a side note if you are planing a drug test dont eat this you will fail it

I overcooked it.  I didn't use as much poppyseeds only because I didn't have as much!  It was still delicious even though the sugar began to caramelize.
