Hey guys: Under another post, I was trying to explain my problem with the new Server 1 Ftag. I can not download the maps or mods on the new Ftag server 1. I have no problem with server 2. When I try to join through xfire or connect through the console to 69.9.170.53 28960, its trys to download the maps/mods but states 0% downloaded and keeps trying until it crashes. I took a brief clip to show you the problem and it can be seen here: I have tried to download everything from the Downloader but it states no new maps. I have tried deleteing the mod and having it reinstall. I have uninstalled and re-installed including punkbuster. As stated, I have tried to connect through xfire and the console. I don't know what else to try and hoping someone will have an idea. By the way, I was able to join for one map last weekend and I thought the issue had resolved itself but it hadn't. Any ideas sould be appreciated. Cotton

Per Rugger's suggestion, I deleted the g13ftag mod from my Mod folders and then tried to connect via xfire. For the first time, it was downloading a series of files at my normal 500 kbs speed. But then it downloaded the map at 13 kbs but it did finally download. Then it tried to download "mods/g13ftag/z_g13.iwd" and it would not download any of it and stayed that way until the server disconnected me. I'll keep trying different things of course. Is there a way to download all of it from a direct site other than the Downloader? Maybe that would work. thanks, Cotton

I tried to go through Xfire and also through console. For me, it looks like the maps and the mod just won't download. It states 0% and then goes to the next download and it too will not download. Then it crashes. Like I said, I even reinstalled the game a couple of times to no avail. I thought I could use the Downloader to pre load the mods and maps but it does not find anything new but obviously not everything is downloaded. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions and I will certainly try it - I need my ftag fix. Cotton

Yep, I'm having the same issue. I even reistalled COD4 (saving my profile of course) but the maps download super slow then does not download the mod or crashes. I tried to install the maps and mods through the Downloader but keep getting " NeedToPrepare, The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a receive" Anybody know how to fix this issue? thanks Cotton

Hi Zoe: Sounds like a good trip. There is a lot of driving so I hope you like spending a lot of time in the car. Keep in mind that between points for most of your trip, there is not a lot to see and do. But it does look like a good mix of nature related activities with the glitz of LA, Vegas and NY thrown in. Also, I'm not sure when you are going but as pointed out before, this trip could be brutal if you do it in the middle of Summer. Outside of the LA and Vegas, there are a lot of decent and inexpensive hotels and on your planned route they will be more decent than a lot of other places in the US. You could try Motel 6, Hampton Inn, Redroof Inn, Best Western, Holiday Inns, Marriott and Hiltons. In LA, Phuckitman is right about the Beverly Garland. It is in the Valley which is north of LA but near Universal studios which has a theme park and Citiwalk which has restaurants, clubs and stores. It is pretty touristy though. The Beverly Garland was a Holiday Inn and they have a shuttle to Universal that I believe leaves every 30 mins. Universal also has a subway that will take you to Hollywood and Highland which is the middle of the tourist part of Hollywood. It has the Kodak Theatre where the Academy Awards are held and Graumans Chinese Theatre where a lot of premieres are held (I'm going to one there for The Rite next Wednesday). There are a lot of street performers - well not so much performers but characters. The Hollywood Roosevelt hotel is also there which is pricey but a good place to get a drink. There is a California Pizza Kitchen restuarant there that is reasonable and you can see the Hollywood sign from the front door. You would also want to walk on the beach boardwalk at Venice and look at all the crazy folks there and go over to Santa Monica and the Third Street Promenade and maybe Malibu and have drinks at a beach restaurant. And if you want to do a film studio tour, I can get you free tickets - just PM me. Also, some people like to go to Disneyland (like my kids) which is about an hour south of LA. It's not as unsafe and as rude (ok maybe it is as rude) as people are telling you. But you should stay in the touristy areas and you will be fine. The West side and South Valley is generally safe. I'm in Westwood and have never had a problem. As for Vegas, you will get the most bang for your buck for the hotel and food. Of course there are high end hotels and restaurants that are expensive but the middle of the road hotels and buffets are really a good deal, particluarly compared to Europe. And they are reasonable so long as you don't spend all your money on gambling or as they call it, gaming. If you stay any night other than Friday and Saturday, you can get some great room prices. The drive down from Monterey on the Pacific Coast Highway is really a beautiful drive. You can stop in Carmel where Clint Eastwood was mayor, do the 17 mile drive at Pebble Beach and as you drive down, see Big Sur, Solvang a Danish village in the Southern wine region and Santa Barbara another beach community with wineries. Thanks Darth. I had planned on doing a comparison and also changing up the text statements. I'm not sure what the script mods do and would be curious about that as well. I need to get back up to level 55 (since my config was deleted) and then I will try the changes lilgreasy uses with tweaks for my set up.

It looks good and I will give it a shot (and will change the name under bind U). But what does this mean: "...make sure you add /r_lodscaleskinned 4 /r_lodscalerigid 4 to console in first game" Also, is there a way to toggle between configs? Cotton

crackxi lol my kids have done it 3 times...man it sucks dont it..lol least someone knows how i feel ....cant get mad at the kids and gotta curse urself for not backing ur shit up....ive done it three times...pretty sure it will happen again...now that we are talkin bout it i should back my shit up...lmfao...wish i could help ya. Hi all: One of my kids deleted my profile on COD 4. I restored a couple of prior restore points which would put my name back in but still has me starting at Level 1. Is there anything I can do or will I just have to start over. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Cotton
