Just came across this picture of a local fishing legend here in Kemah, TX. this guy has been fishing this way for many years and has won some good tournaments from this little "boat". From what ive heard its just a plywood box that he built. Goes to show you that bigger and nicer fishing gear doesnt mean you will catch anything. look at this guy, he wants it so he gets it. Its a good way to go about things if you ask me.

Last November, I went on a short trip off the So. Cal. coast out of Ventura, to the Channel Islands. Santa Cruz, one of the closer islands in the bunch is a great place to fish, dive or hike at. Not only did we get to see many pods of dolphins but also whales. I got several dolphin videos but the whale video was a tough one. We had to try to position the boat where we thought the whale would surface and my buddy Gary hit it dead on. Dolphin video. (I was holding phone in one hand, the rail on the bow in the other, leaning out as far as i could. How bout some red lipped scallops?!! Lobsters and scallops are caught bare handed except tool for scallop to pop them off their base. All the fish were speared by a 19yr old girl, (who just happens to hold the record for largest Sheep Head fish caught free-diving with a spear gun for a women.

Three monster lobsters were caught that evening so it was a lobster fest. We had lobster breakfast burritos the next morning, lobster tacos for lunch with scallops and fresh calico bass! The boat is a 21' Radon which my friend used to commercial fish with, when he bought it it had a wind screen as did all the Radon boats at that time. Gary made a mold, the boat manufacturer glassed it for him, destroyed his mold and gave him his part. Everyone knew the boat but were confused when they saw the cabin he made for it. Now Radon manufactures their boats and it's amazing how similar they look to Gary's boat.
