That's great news Cheese, because I've just been informed we're crossing time tables with https://www.berlin.de/en/events/2096878-2842498-csd-christopher-street-day.en.html
We may grease you up and send you along in your undies, just for a laugh.

I like the Bernauerstrasse and Mauerplatz ideas too as easy things to slot in wherever we have time. It's out in the open, it's easy to reach, and the park in particular has a lot of things we can do in the "have drinks, have a bite, have some music, sit down and hang out" category of entertainment

Right. I managed to convince uncle dear to keep the list short.
Apart from the rather obvious https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brandenburg_Gate and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexanderplatz these five suggestions came up:
1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treptower_Park - Soviet war memorial and park. I guess not a lot of us will be familiar with former Soviet cultural stuff, might be more interesting than the usual stuff we see on our side of the former Wall.
2 Kulturbrauerei http://www.kulturbrauerei.de/veranstaltungen/ seems to have a mishmash of various things going on at various times as well as a museum; might be interesting if we find something we like in the list of things. (which is very, very long)
3 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernauer_Straße The Bernauer Straße crosses the old Wall and has become something of a museum walk. The weather should be good so a walk outside might be a good idea, esp for those of us with heads full of cobwebs from the previous evening's entertainment
4 The Mauerpark. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauerpark It's a park, lot of nice little restaurants, lots of nice places to go for a drink, various more and less musical entertainment options as well. This might be the perfect spot to go around early dinner time, have a wander round and then divide up into groups finding the restaurants we like. Since traditionally there's always a bit of a challenge to finding dining options everyone likes, having a pick and mix evening could be a nice way to alleviate the stress of finding a place to dine
5. for those inclined to leaving the city fr a bit, Potsdam could be an option https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potsdam it's got several nice parks to wander round in and enjoy the fresh air, plus there's a Dutch quarter. Not sure why anyone would want to see that, but it's there.

We're deffo going to do some things. Arrive on Thursday, get talking and drinking, we'll do something non-booze-related Friday and Saturday afternoons. Evenings tend to be "go out for dinner, go visit some pubs and clubs".
There do tend to be a few (British, cough cough) people who literally roll out of bed to shower, breakfast, and head into a pub at 11 AM. But not me. And not, if history is any guide, anyone who isn't British. Maybe it's just a British thing?
I'll ask my uncles for some tips. They go to Berlin every couple of months and in fact are there right now. They should be able to give some interesting suggestions.

I have yet to decide whether I'm driving or flying. But I will be there on Thursday, which is the day the fun people said they would arrive, and I will get there either around 2PM ish (flying) or around 4 PM ish (driving).
It's only about 6 hours of driving according to Google Maps. That does sort of assume nobody burns down any buses on the A9 though
As for a Frenchist needling to learn about RSVP... I thought the SVP bit WAS French?! (I have no idea what the letters are for, if it's not).
