Absolutely, better safe than sorry, it is fairly obvious then that the problems occur for you and previous owner with this (illegal) exhaust, don't take a genius to figure that one out, sell it on Ebay. As you know I love old British bikes, but tour on them oh no! they need a pit crew, I keep others to actually ride and play with the Brits. I don't know how much you know about engines but your standard engine is already highly 'stressed' take it beyond those parameters and you introduce increased unreliability for what might be modest gains in power. A perfect example were the qualifying engines used in formula 1, they would develop huge power but only lasted 5 laps, if that, the engine was then de-tuned to last a race (just). A touring engine would have lower compression, softer cams and run richer than it's racing counterpart, it would do 100,000 miles the racer 200. A lot of people don't realise that racing bikes are built to last say 50 miles before needing rebuilding, in the 70's we had to rebuild TZ cranks after 30 racing miles, they were destroyed. Run that machine on standard parts and settings, that is what it was designed for.

  5. still got the standard  exhaust  so worst case that will go back on. i think they will sort it as ducati manchester have put the termis on several 1200 r!

  6. got the bike with 700 miles on with 2k worth of extras for 14k new it should of been 16500. so got a good deal

Yes that was a good deal, was that the exhaust on when you bought it, or did you fit it??

no the guy who had before me got it fitted by ducati at 500 mile service and thats when he started having the same problems he got so pissed off he gave it back!

  7. loads of issues as to who should fix it as I got it from ducati reading and its now in ducati Manchester. the termi exhaust is race only and comes with the map on a download stick when new. but funny that reading said they didn't get one in the box and had to down load it off the internet.  I don't think they did and just put a map on it that they had spare
