Can't load games

This problem began 2 days ago.  When trying to load map from cod2 dm server, I get the usual screen shot and the pause while the map loads, but then my screen goes blank.  It stays that way for an indefinate period of time.  My task manager tells me cod2 is running fine, but I get no download or messages.

 

This doesn't seem to be a problem in area 51 or the ctf server. 

 

Any ideas?
