  1. Great game, just applied to be part of the Extremeidiots in planes squadron.
  2. I don't actually see anything wrong, if you understand the crazy mechanics the game uses regarding random hip fire spread, suppression spread and movement spread. So, if you are shooting from the hip, the bullets can go anywhere around radius of the crosshairs, in one example there you got hit first and after that, even when you were on target the suppression mechanic forces your bullets off target. Another example there shows the effect of extra random spread when you are moving while firing. The best way to make sure your bullets are goijng in the direction you think they are is: a) Never rely on med/long range fire when you are suppressed (use squad cover at all times) try to get into cover until you are not suppressed any more, always try to crouch and be as still as possible when firing, preferably aiming down sights. If you get your head round how suppression works, things like pre-firing and crouch/aim down sights, and using cover while suppressed (with squad cover perk) does make some sense.
  3. Used electronics usually sell for at most 1/3rd of the replacement retail price, but good luck getting whatever you can for them dude.
  4. Oh, and if you get black or corrupted textures when running the game after applying these settings, it's probably the "Max Pre-rendered frames" clamp, so set it back to "Application controlled" or "automatic" if you have black/corrupted textures after following the above guide.
  5. I didn't have time to read though it, but editing registry settings seems like overkill to me. If you get the Samsung 840 Pro it comes with a software wizard thing that can in one click optimise your system for either speed or reliability or capacity. I optimised for reliability which reserves about 10% of the drive for "over-provisioning", i.e. spare space used by the wear leveling algorithm to make sure certain flash blocks are not over used. It also tweeks caching, indexing and power options as well as page file settings. However, I recommend you override all page/swap file settings and just don't have any page/swap space at all, there really is no need if you have 8GB of RAM or more unless there's a specific application you want it for.
  6. Thanks everyone, I may not be the most chatty on Teamspeak, but I try to contribute where I can to a community.
  7. Overheat on modern processors causes a "Machine Check Exception" blue screen error, if you see that, it's probably overheating.
  8. Cool ok, although I should have mentioned you'll have to cover postage too, I can take it to the post office and ask them how much. I can send it to you in the GTX 770 packaging, should be nice and cosey in there. PM me your address, you can wire me the cash on receipt of the card.
  9. Your motherboard chipset/SATA controller should be fine Never run a swap file on an SSD. Make sure you use control panel to manually set the page file settings. If you have 8GB RAM or more, I would recommend switching page file off entirely, unless you have a very memory hungry application which needs it.
  10. I have find best results having the "Network interpolation" slider set to about half full, I recommend trying 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 2/3 to see what the sweet spot is for you and your internet connection. Also bare in mind that when playing on high ping servers (ping > 50), you will probably want to increase the slider, otherwise movement in game might get too stuttery.
  11. Hi, Just upgraded to a GTX 770 and RAM, so my old GTX 570 and 3 sticks of 2GB Corsair Dominator GT (2000MHz XMP) are for sale. £50 for the GFX card and £30 for the RAM, if anyone's interested.
  12. I've just moved from an Intel X25 160gb SSD to a Samsung 840 Pro 256/260GB and also have a low power 2GB HDD (WD green) for mass storage (downloads/movies/music etc...). Boot and install all software (except X-plane as it's 60GB) on the SSD. Note: Mate sure you have AHCI mode (not Legacy or IDE mode) on you SATA controller, and also make sure it's not a dodgey Marvell SATA chip who's driver doesn't support TRIM in Windows 7/8. One thing to note about the Samsung SSD which is great, is that it comes with software to clone your existing boot drive (as long as there is enough space on the SSD of cause). It ran perfectly on my Windows 7 PC, but bare in mind you may have to re-activate Windows after cloning it to a new drive, I was fine as I have a retail copy of Windows 7, but OEM or cracked copies might have problems.
  13. I use a Fractal Design R3, worth checking out.
  14. Hi everyone, I've been playing Battlefield since BFBC2, played BF3 since release and have recently got into playing on hardcore servers, and I prefer a challenge. I stumbled on the XtremeIdiots BF3 EU hardcore server a few weeks ago and hung around as I like the server setup. Ed the Duck friended me on Battlelog after randomly squadding up in game, and after spending a good few hours on your server I thought it only polite to check out your team speak server, where I was made very welcome. So here I am. I am a member of another clan, but have not been active with them for months, so I am interested in switching over if/when the time is right for everyone, although formal membership isn't what I'm really looking for, it's more to have some friendly (or no so, lol) people to hang out and squad up with in game. Really looking forward to the release of BF4 in the Autumn, are there any other muntiplayer games a lot of you guys are into? I think I might get a copy of "Payday 2" when it releases, it's a 4 way co-op multiplayer "rob the bank" game, looks different anyway.... On a personal note, I'm 33, from Birkenhead (Liverpool), went to Manchester Uni where I did computer science (got stoned for 3 years), then moved down to Bristol and started an internet security business with a friend from high school. I do all the technical bits, like server config/maintenance, and the majority of the development work, mainly GNU/Linux based and mostly C/C++, but I've worked as low leven as debugging a propriatory 802.11 wireless network driver, porting it from the x86 Linux to ARM Linux kernel. Happy fraggind, Dan...
