whats the connection?...I am unable to get on any server associated with COD4...

Start game as usual....got into match then game crashed. Tried to re-enter and all graphics and setting were set to defaults, (my setting gone). Adjusted..... Went to find XI server in favorites list...nothing there. Checked "all" server listing and XI and other favorites also not there...hmmmm? Checked version of game....it is 1.7.568 which I believe is the correct one. Could someone confirm this for me? Copied new copy of iw3mp.exe thinking that may be issue..... appears not to be the solution. I run the Steam version of the game and have done so for many years successfully. Does anyone have a suggested solution? Thanks

try plugging your headset into usb port prior to starting game....this solved my similar issue...

update: Made sure old copies were removed from directory..... new iw3mp is only copy in directory tried to start game and new message "code execution error can't proceed mss32.dll was not found Any ideas?

The wonders of Steam...any how COD 4 is running version 1.81.... and I understand the need to revert is back to 1.7..... I previously got iw3mp (3).exe from Loader and used it but now when I try to replace it with the one Steam installed...doesn't revert back. I re-named the previous one to oldiw3mp then copied in Loader file. Any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated Thanks

Thanks for feedback. Totty...I am unable to get to multiplayer because game crashes before it opens. It starts in single player then I click on multiplayer and everything stops. Loader... I copied iw3mp.exe file into directory. I renamed old one to oldiw3mp. Tried to launch from single player by clicking on multiplayer...and it crashes. I went back to directory and the file I copied in now looks like this _iw3mp Any ideas?

Downloaded as suggested. Tried to run but kept getting message not compatible with digital version downloaded from Steam. Tried to run but still crashed after switching to multiplayer.... Any suggestions?

Sorry...I am sure this isn't the first time someone asked for help on this but in searching the forums I was unable to find a solution..... New windows 11 Desktop computer Installed from Steam account COD4 Can run single player but when switching to multiplayer....game just crashes. IF I recall there are perhaps two things needing to be done. First, changing the iw3mp.exe file? Is this correct and if so where do I find correct file? Second, I recall there may be some update changes 1.8 to 1.7 or something like that.... Can some one assist me on this. Thanks

Looking for assistance/direction to solve an issue that began couple of days ago. After every map has concluded, I see the new map opening screen but then the game becomes unresponsive. Only way out is to go to Task Manager and end task. I can then re-start the game and am able to get into the map just fine to play. At one point, I did receive a message of a DirectX error along the lines of "unrecoverable error" however I do not recall the full details of the pop-up. In game, I am also seeing delays where I am shot by a player and then the player shows up on the screen. This has been more pronounced seemingly since this other issues has occurred. I am not sure if they are related or not. Suggestions/solutions?

out of curiosity...i clicked on iw3sp.exe file that was in the steamapps/common/call of duty world at war folder and got an error message stating "mss32.dll" was not found. What relevance might this have?

When I try to enter profile name, existing or new one, it just ignores what I entered and asks again if I want to create one. Vicious circle to no where. Any suggestions?

Thanks for feedback.... Game indicates it is version 17.1263..... Went to Stream and validated files..... says all is good. Still unable to create on line profile. Also indicates offline...not able to connect. PC has no issues connecting with ISP.

Decided to re-install World at War. Lost old cd's so purchased it off of Steam Install seemed fine. Went to create On-line profile and it would not accept SgtWacky. Same profile I've been using for all my games. Also..... likely related..... it will not allow me to connect on-line. Game indicates it is version 17.1263. If memory recalls....this may be an issue. Any help would be appreciated....thanks
