Ferret will return
Spartacus replied to Ferret's topic in Call of Duty 2's Call Of Duty 2 Discussion
Hey Ferret... I will be looking for you! I just replaced my PC & Net Connection also.... See You On The Battlefield... Sparty -
deerejon How did you ever make out with Adminprivleges? did you try that runas command? Glad to hear you are in at least.... I actually had no luck with it. I am presently running as Admin and it did not help. I have a good friend in the PC Business & He says its my Windows 7 not giving access to COD2 to get to the net. One of the issues is the fact that COD2 is a 32 Bit Program & Win. 7 64 Bit systems have problems running older 32 bit programs. Thanks again for your help

Up & Running on Xfire Now.... Still did not totally solve my Multiplayer Game problems (ZERO Servers Load), but at least I'm able to play.... Thanks to all who helped. Kill You All Later... Sparty
-
Finally up and running through Xfire. Although I stll cannot Launch the Multiplayer game & get any servers to show up on it. At least I can access the servers through Xfire. Windows7 64 Bit can be a real Bugger with Layers of Security. Thanks to all who helped Sparty

deerejon The RAS PPPoE driver file “raspppoe.sys” found under c:windowssystem32drivers folder seems to be the root cause of the problem. Fortunately, we can workaround the problem simply by renaming the original raspppoe.sys file to something like “raspppoe_orig.sys” copying a working file from a Windows Vista system. I found this.....It sounds and looks right.....it is a windows 7 error and the vista file is more stable.... I'm trying to change the name to that but windows won't give me permission lol.

One last thing... If I add an Ethernet card to my new PC, I think it voids the warranty. This is a connection problem due to Windows 7. Still can't get a standard Broadband or Ethernet connection to make my default connection without the "Error 651" coming up. After looking around the net.... I'm not the only person with this problem with windows 7 & microsoft has no answer yet.

deerejon Spartacus1968 Hey Deerejon... Want to share some insight on windows 7 with me lol? I can't even get my Modem to get my COD2 Game to hook up to the Net. Im upgrading to the Win7 "Professional" so I can run my PC in "XP" Mode. Oh did I mention? COMCAST SUCKS? What can I help you with....I am by no means an expert but after all my issues I am getting pretty good..... What are the details...??? Well.... I can't get a standard Ethernet Connection with my Comcast cable. Every time I try to connect I get the Dreaded "Error 651" message. I get this message even when I try a USB Cable instead of the Ethernet Cable. I can access the net by a "Network Connection" which is designed to connect other PC's within my own home network. But because this is not a "Broadband or Ethernet" connection, my COD2 or COD4 games Will Not use this connection for online playing. There is no way to make it my default connection to tell my PC to use this for all applications. I have spent many an hour with Comcast & Dell on the phone with trying to fix this issue. After research online, it seems I am not alone with this problem. Thanks

Labob Yu know ethernet cards are real cheap like 10 bucks and come with window 7 drivers maybe pick opne up and use it instead of the MB ethernet. Its a real cheap way to fix this This sounds like a good idea. Thank You

PimpedOutPete Hey Spart... So you are not running at Anti virus of any type?.. As for the "Library Not Registrared"... Thats Windows 7's new enhanced security bitching at you... COD2 has to be installed as the admin and in XP mode...As a standard usr it wont recongnize the game. The only way past that is to reinstall as the admin and in XP mode, but since you can run the game there would be no need for that. Hey Pete. I am running McAfee as I used to before. I will try shutting it down & see what happens. As for the XP mode, I did install it as Admin & I have it set to treat the game as XP Service Pack 2. I will get it right eventually lol. Thanks for your Help Pete...

Labob What you just mentioned is not a modem or router issue. Are you using the usb to connect your modem to your computer ? If so don't You might want to uninstall your ethernet driver and let windows install a new copy of it. So something like this unplug the modem uninstall your ethernet driver reboot the system and plug in the modem. Windows should see the missing driver and install it for you if it doesn't do it all again but this time get a copy of your MB manufacure's ethernet driver and use that one. Thats off the top of my head maybe one of the network gurus can advise better on the prosidure. But from what your talking about I think its that. Good luck remember computer also make stunning door stops. Hello Labob.. I ran into trouble using the USB cable and am presently using the Ethernet. I even re-installed the latest driver with Dell on the phone guiding me. Dell also said that they must be working on a updated driver for Windows 7 to operate the Modem. I may have to just wait. Maybe I should call Motorola and ask them for a copy of the latest driver. The software freaks out when I try to access anything on the disc containing the driver, so I downloaded the same one online & Installed it. Thanks for your input.

deerejon - WINDOWS 7 PROFILES AND SUCH I have recently had a boat load of issues with my games....I'll skip most of that... So...to get all my information and stuff for everything....I had moved user data around and the like to get all my configs back to where the programs needed to find them....TS info COD levels and kits....all my other programs..... Long story short I have 39.1 gigs of stuff in 2 places.... c:\documents and settings\ c:\users I used a duplicate file finder to confirm they are mirror copies and want to get rid of one....and by get rid of just copy it to my terabye external for safe keeping but dont want to guess wrong....so....which one goes? Thanks DJ Hey Deerejon... Want to share some insight on windows 7 with me lol? I can't even get my Modem to get my COD2 Game to hook up to the Net. Im upgrading to the Win7 "Professional" so I can run my PC in "XP" Mode. Oh did I mention? COMCAST SUCKS?

dawgy did u update windows.... how did you install it.... with autorun... or opend and run from setup exe... ?? I installed it from the setup icon on the disc file. Windows 7 does not like to run the autorun exe. That's when it says "Library not registered". I am presently running the game as Administrator. I also have found out that my Modem through Comcast, has big Trouble with Windows 7 & there is no workaround or hotfix yet. The drivers last update was 2009 for the Motorola "Surfboard" Modem. Comcast claims it is their latest & greatest. Half of my Comcast desktop Icons won't work. They have no answers either. I don't know who I'm Pissed at more! COMCAST OR WINDOWS 7! I just ordered an upgrade for my 64 Bit Windows 7 to The "Professional" Version. The guy from India at Dell says through the upgrade I can run my PC back in Windows XP Mode. Then maybe my Stinkin' Modem will in stall & operate right! Beware all windows 7 Users if you are thinking about Commiecast for your Internet Provider!
-
dawgy well i would assume that you have a bad patch... i would try reinstalling from a different download.... http://www.megagames.com/patches/call-duty-2-patch-v13 this is where i always get mine... Thanks Dawgy.... I uninstalled the old patch & game completely... Then reinstalled the game & your patch from the link you provided and it still won't interact with the Internet. The game will actually stop if you leave the Launcher screen on. Maybe my copy of the game itself is flawed? I'm gonna keep trying otherwise try my luck with COD4.
-
I have tried all ways everyone has suggested to no avail. I even turned off my firewall & still nothing. One last curious thing is, when I try to run the autorun function when I click on my DVD drive, The Program won't start & I get a small window that says COD2 "Library Not Registered". So the game does not launch when I close the drive automatically. The game runs when I click on the desktop Icon only.
-
Nobodygood>XI< right click on the game icon and run as admin and if that does not work try as a last ditch effort turn UAC off Pardon me, but what is a UAC? Thanks for your help!
-
dawgy one ? are you running a 64 bit version of 7?? Hey Dawgy.... The PC is 64 bit & it's Windows 7 Home Premium.
-
Labob Agree with Ron did you install the patch ?? http://www.gamefront.com/files/5125790/Call-of-Duty-2-PC-Patch-v-1.3/ Yes I did install the patch. I also had the firewall allow COD2 to communicate to the net & still nothing.
-
Nobodygood>XI< it depends on where it is installed, find the folder that cod2 is and browse to that location and pick the .exe file and you will be good, don't bother to re-install I will try that thank you
-
There is no listing on my programs for COD2. I an going to remove it and try to reinstall it.
-
Nobodygood>XI< do you have the windows firewall running, if you do you have to allow cod2 and pb to pass through it, there are two pb process that have to be allowed through Yes there is a Firewall running. I'm new to Windows 7 & having a hard time trying to have the firewall allow anything through. I don't see COD2 even listed as acknowledged on the blocked list, i have looked. It used to be much easier on my old Windows XP. I think this is the problem though. Thank You Nobodygood.

Hello everyone. My old Dell Dimension 4500PC that was 9 &1/2 years old finally crapped out around 3 weeks ago so I just got a new Dell Studio XPS 9100 with a i7-930 processor & 8GB DDR3 SDRAM. My Video Card is a ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024MB GDDR5. I am running Windows 7. It runs COD2 great in single player mode! My problem is that my Comcast Cable Connection is not recognized while running the game. My line goes through a Surfboard Cable Modem without a router. I get 0 servers running while trying to get on the Multiplayer game. Should I try launching the game through XFire? Comcast is Clueless on my problem and I would really like to get back Killing you all here soon! Any Suggestions?
