CplMOFO >XI< back into the COD4 realm...
CplMOFO replied to CplMOFO's topic in Call of Duty 4's Call Of Duty 4 Discussion
Hey Chile! After trying COD5 again after a while, I got bored quick. Now that I re-installed Windows in my new rig, I'm not re-installing all the old games...I still tried tho...it seemed like the "old guard" wasn't around anymore when I was in... Since Blackops started to p1ss me off with their DLC, I get kicked when one of the new maps is loading...still, I'm stubborn, I don't want to pay extra for a a few more maps...just for the principle...they promised mod tools....I'm still waiting... Anyway, yes, since Blackops DLC is out, the XI servers "occupation" level changed quite a bit, the "old maps" server is empty, the "DLC" one is the one people are playing on... -
There is three different i7s... The i7 8** series, using dual-channel RAM (socket 1156 on the P55 platform) The i7 9** series, using triple-channel... (socket 1366 on the X58 platform) The new sandy bridge CPUs (i5 and i7, socket 1155 on the P67 platform)) are both using dual channel... Officially, the Sandy bridge CPUs are supporting the 1333mhz RAM variety...you can buy faster RAM, but it's not officially supported..it will work tho... i highly recommend that you buy 1.5Volts RAM....because of the memory controller now being on the CPU... Now, the RAM doesn't need to be really high-end, because the motherboard's FSB is not being overclocked (if you do overclock)... Sandy bridge is really the way to go compared to the older i5s and i7s... Sandy bridge is faster clock for clock, and also being built smaller, thus being running cooler...and it overclocks more...sandy is just more cost effective than older Intel CPUs...

WTF? When you thing about it, Black Ops is already one of the most expensive PC game ever (initial purchasing price + first DLC)... What is it..$59+$15? PLUS another $15? It's $90!!!! Activision...THUMBS DOWN!!!!
-
Well, Now that you had the chance to build your first custom rig, with a few parts that will outlast your current setup, you never look back... Pretty good case, that Coolermaster 690 Advanced II and great Corsair TX850 Watts single rail... A lot of little things to work on at first, but really rewarding in the end...

CplMOFO >XI< back into the COD4 realm...
CplMOFO replied to CplMOFO's topic in Call of Duty 4's Call Of Duty 4 Discussion
lol ROGUE! Well, the traitors are the companies like Activision that didn't like how popular COD4 became and still alive...they didn't reproduce the same "mistake"... I'll be splitting my gaming time between Blackops and COD4....too bad I'm getting kicked every time the server loads a "first strike" map on the >XI< Blackops server... COD4 ACEMOD is what's closest to what brought me into the online multiplayer...QUAKE4...speed, adrenalin, jumping, all that good stuff... So Acemod Thx all COD4 types for the welcome, I'll be seeing you in-game... -
I agree that Hijackthis is not for everybody...but we have to assume that the "customer" does it's fair share of reading to resolve said issue...

Hi folks, I decided to re-install COD4, after a long stretch of COD 5, BFBC2 and COD Blackops... COD4 was the best thing in my opinion, and every time a COD game came out afterwards, I built a lot of hype, but also brought a lot of dissapointment....I skipped MW2, but if I look back, I should've boycotted COD BO also...I mean PAYING for maps??? WTF!!! So yes, I bookmarked a few >XI< COD4 servers and I've been playing on the ACEMOD one...NICE speed, I like the feel of it, just like back in the day... See you folks in-game!!!

Sorry to hear that Bushape. I never owned a PayPal account and I've being often called "weird" because I was kinda "scared" to use that service...seems like more and more people are getting screwed by them...too bad...It's hard to let your guard down and use any form of electronic payments on the net... You can try to download Hijack this, and all kinds of spybot SD, malwarebytes and all to sanitize your PC...when you do it, disconnect your rig from the net...

Lol yup you got the whole picture posting sorted out! Yes I put a lot of cash in there, but my plan is to keep it the way it's gonna be for a good 2 years at least... For cases, have a hard look at coolermaster HAF series....HAF X, HAF 932 and all that stuff...the ANTEC DF-series are nice, but an acquired taste...for the LIAN-LI and SILVERTONE, they are expensive.... the FULL ATX towers are nice because they have a lot of clearance for long AMD/ATI cards like the 69**... I'm not sure I would grab another Hd5850...I was in the same situation with my STILL AWESOME XFX HD5870...I could've got a second one for crossfire...but if you manage to find a decent card USED for cheap, why not... The truth is: Crossfire is a lot better with the newer Hd69**-series cards than Hd58**-series... And Hd69** cards have a lot better tesselation performance than 58**..which really shows in AlienVPredator, HAWK and HEAVEN benchmark... I did pick nVIDIA on this one because PhysX-capability helps in benchmarks, also, nVIDIA has a better market share, and give money to game developers to optimize for their technology (TWIMTBP is an example " nvidia The Way It's Meant To Be Played)... AMD/ATI does the same, but on a smaller scale...no biggie...I like both companies..

I purchased the sound card from NCIX.COM I just checked again, and surprisingly, the $10 mail-in rebate was a canadian-only offer from ASUS. The US price is $30 for the sound card there (they sell in both CDN and US dollars). Newegg.com sells it for $29.99 MICROCENTER (USA) sells for #31.99 minus a $10 US $$ mail-in rebate, so $21.99...

Well, with that huge amount of RAM, you're "covered" for a long time...when it's time to buy, you got to buy. RAM is really affordable these days, but when a price hike hits, prices are going thru the roof...so nice move.

Dunno about delivery date, the order is still processed right now...but I got all my price matches accepted...good news... ETA won't but until Wednesday I fear...I bought all kinds of things for the SAME amount as the GTX590...had to spend that store credit! I got a Logitech extreme 3D Pro flightstick (to play HAWK) for $31.96 instead of $45 Some SONY headphones MDR-XD100 studio monitors for $17.99 instead of $60 (for WIFEY) A Headset for my daughter that want to speak with me in game (BFBC2) A 50-disk spindle of MEMOREX DUAL-LAYER DVD blanks for $29.99 instead of around $50... Also, a ASUS Xonar DG (with HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER) for $14 after mail-in rebate.... Wasn't necessary, as the onboard sound on P8P67 deluxe is really decent...but for the price, and the AMPLIFIER...it's worth a try! Also, it supposedly supports EAX 5.0... Quote from BIT Tech: an a few Noctua fans for $16 each.... I like those "poo" fans...with them "Shit ALREADY hit the fan"...lol Really expensive, but really quiet, yet push good airflow...

Alright, the damage is done... I bought this setup... 2 X MSI GTX560 TI OC...it looks like this pic: I based my choice on this article from {H}ardOCP: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2011/02/21/msi_n560gtx_ti_twin_frozr_ii_oc_sli_review/ Quote: "Our apples-to-apples performance testing showed some rather large performance differences though, highly favoring dual GTX 560 Ti. We saw large performance differences, from 20-40% over that of a single GeForce GTX 580. These are significant differences. Considering the price is the same, it makes sense to get two GTX 560 Ti’s and get a free performance advantage compared to the GTX 580" Also, this vid from Overclock3D: http://www.youtube.com/user/TimeToLiveCustoms#p/search/3/cTQYtBaFPA0 TinyTomLogan scored 40 000 3Dmarks VANTAGE with a SandyBridge @ 4.7 with those 2 cards in SLI... It's the same score a the GTX590 I had paid $759 for... Now, I paid $254 each card, with a $15 mail-rebate (which I might never see LOLZ), a $10 pre-paid gift card, a copy of 3Dmarks 11 full, a digital download of Mafia 2 and a digi download of Just cause 2... So basically, $460.00 for the same performance as the GTX590 OCed I had... This card uses a non-reference circuit board, with Mil-classII components (Super ferrite chokes, 7+1 phases power design, which is better than GTX570...)...and the same RAM chips as the GTX480..this card can overclock to 1GHz (I won't even bother to try...) As I'll be gaming at either 1680 X 1050 (my 22" Samsung LCD) or 1920 X 1080 (my next LCD down the road)...The 1GB of vRAM is enough...I went with nVIDIA for the greater compatibility of games and compatible applications (CUDA apps)... Also, LOAD temperatures in the mid-60's (instead of mid 80's for HD6950 cards) and lower noise level (compared the HD6950 fans). Those card were also a good $40 lower than the HD6950s 2GB... See ya in game!!!

Well, honestly, I haven't disabled the turbo mode yet. Mine still "modulates" from 1600mhz to 4600mhz...for now, it seems alright...a lot of people actually run their Sandys like that... For the GFx...I'm still tinkering...got my refund...reading, thinking, reading, scouring the net for rebates, best deals...
-
Nice rig Boomslang! Do you have it put together yet? PICS!!! 16Gb of RAM? Yummy...
-
Humm.. Things aren't pretty actually. The 570s are a little weak on the VRMs...the 580 is a nice card, but I'd like to go dual...SLI 560TI is a decent alternative, but the RED team's 6950s are great, run 2GB of RAM each...beating the 560TIs...drawing less wattage...
-
Hey dude what's going on? Is it ready yet?

Well, Prime 95, although old by today's standard, is still a viable option...BECAUSE.. ON SANDY, I found that a stable INTELBURNTEST or a stable LinX can be deemed unstable by a Prime 95 run....I agree that Prime takes forever... Now, the way I see it, is that I start with IBT or LinX and give P95 a shot...SANDYBRIDGE seems to be a little different "behavior" wize. I run at 4.6 at 1.37V... I turned-in the GTX590 for full refund...this is a somewhat limited run of cards that are throttled to avoid overheating...the original driver was crap. The next one wasn't bad, but chokes the card...you still get a great amount of performance out of it, but it has WEAK Voltage regulation Modules (VRMs)....anyway, a few guys toasted their cards by overvolting, but quite a few got lemons also...I got rid of mine...right away...don't like the smell of burnt silicon in the morning... The GTX 590 was performing like two GTX570 in SLI, which is pretty darn good..but it's build with a built-in limiter (OCP) that is controlled via software...my personal card was throttling a little bit....I seen it drops from 630mhz core to 554mhz and once at 405MHz....so you get a steady 200 FPS at max details in some games, then a "plateau" at 120fps for like 30 seconds or so..then I goes back up (to keep the temperatures in-check)....I know PLENTY of FPS, but throttling nevertheless... MOFO doesn't like being a ginea pig or a BETA tester for nVIDIA...I RMA'd the card...now looking at options....

Tell us how you like it once your stuff in installed!
-
I second No ears....if you can grab a "second-hand" GTX260 for cheap go for it...if looking for a new card, the GTXs 460s and 560TI (look at sales price) are almost twice as fast as the 260...
-
Godspeed on the new build ukildme... That setup will surely give you a good boost...
-
Thanks for the tip for windows...I got everything set to "quality" in the driver..and PhysX is enabled...apparently the score is not kept in database if Physx is enabled. Vantage: It's the first time I run it I think...not familiar with scores compared to 3Dmarks 06

My passmark 3D: Now, cable clutter galore (haven't had the time yet) This is a nice card, you need good clean power from the Powersupply.Seems pretty powerful. I'll need to grab a larger monitor, cause 1680 X 1050 is too small for a card like that...just for kicks, I ran Blackops (too easy to run) at ALL MAXED + 16 AA at between 130 and 175 FPS... Also, a large case with lot's of good airflow is needed. (200mm intake in the front, plus the 2 X 120mm antec fans blowing towards the card, and a Noctua 120mm intake fan sucking-in from the bottom. There's 2 X 200mm exhaust fans on top, 1 X 120mm exhaust behind CPU cooler... I'll take the time to manage that cabling, cause it looks like hell right now.

Like Yoda said, please post the specs of this computer...even if it's a good buddy, it's might not be worth it... you can build a fairly cheap Phenom II quad system for close to that price...
-
Stupid Treyarch forcing us to fork the money to be able to play...let's face it...the popular servers will be the ones running new maps... So you either pay or lose... Where are the mod tools...they better be issuing those soon (wait, they'll milk as much money off the DLC first) so mod tools will come out when the next COD will be ready for sale... Treyarch/Activision, this shyte is called "commercial dictatorship" TREYARCH/ACtIVISION you're blowing chunks... ***Mofo trying to get a STAR on his Whiner medal***
