Dread, Let's not turn my topic into a shit-show...if you want to argue benchmarks, testing methodology, go to Xtremesystems.... Sandy bridge is new and nice, giving better performance than AMD Phenom IIs X4 and X6 nobody's gonna argue with that. and we're talking at a CHEAP CPU that kicks some ass... IMHO a X6 Phenom II is a good platform. Good stuff if you like it...It pumps impressive CINEBENCH scores...but CINEBENCH has nothing to do with anything close to gaming...this is why I never bother... People choosing X6 CPUs are doing it for it's number crunching capability, where the extra 2 cores make a difference. Why not making a AMD thread? You could be really helpful to the >XI< clan members taht own AMD CPUs...I don't know much about them anymore (R.I.P Athlon 64 3400+ Clawhammer circa 2004)

lol LABOB... I thought that Chile already had the game! He didn't like I guess...too many issues in the beginning

R.I.P Major Winter! You've been an inspiration to me. courageous and resilient man..

MERLIN007: Pretty awesome I changed it to the CDN flag one...great! Wildbill72, your stuff was awesome too, I saved it. I also used it as my new avatar... Thanks you guys for your contribution to this great XI community by helping others!!!
-
@ WildBill: This is an awesome sig man...I like the Canadian flag out back and the writings... @Merlin: Wow...pretty good. I like the finger...it's got the Mofo mindset I think... I really like it...how could I possibly add it to my profile?

@ LARSIN: Well, it's perfectly stable, but who know how warm it's gonna be this summer. If I get a air conditioning unit for my computer room this summer, this setting could still be pretty good. but as warmer summer air is used to cool off components, efficiency of air cooling drops a little...gotta keep a good balance...and room temps at 25 celsius or below... I shot for 4.5-4.6 anyway. To be honest, the difference between 4.6 and 4.7 is pretty slim (400 points in 3dmarks VANTAGE)...I'll probably back it down to 4.6...just to save a few milivolts and degrees Everything below 80 degrees is safe( for sandy bridge...other CPUs are different, careful there!!!), but I like to keep things under 70 degrees...my 4.6 setting gives me that...(above temps were during stress test, max reached 73 celsius) gaming temps are a good 5 degrees celsius below stress test temps... @ BAMA: I hear you...this stuff is like drugs to me...now, I have to stop looking at computer parts sales and concentrate in helping others...my spending spree is over... BTW The H70 is pretty nice looking and effective...fan noise can be heard, but it's no biggie...lower temps is the best! anyway, in my case I have so many fans, it's like a wind tunnel... Keep in touch, let me know which CPU/mobo you got and we can look at "safe" settings...

Looks pretty good Merlin! Did you do it all? I mean that caracter is a smoker..I quit a few years ago...possible to replace by a "finger of honor" ? Is it possible to make it look more like rectangular (longer but thinner?) Anyway, it looks real cool already!

lol, Thanks for the moral support. I'm not in a hurry. I seen some pretty awesome sigs here, some of the artists here are pretty skilled!

Just for reference, 2500K at 4.7GHz, voltages/temps/CPU-Z screenshot, Intel Burn test validation. Also, nice >XI< wallpaper in the background!

Bazza, Those files are nVIDIA files....one or two might be corrupted... What I would do...Download DRIVERSWEEPER, use it to flush everything nVIDIA, reboot, re-install the latest WHQL-certified nVIDIA driver for your graphics card....
-
Howdy >XI< artists! I'm a mofo in every sense of the term!!! I've no artistic talent, I wonder if some of you could help me! Thanks in advance! CplMOFO
-
alright, If it happened after the forceware drivers update... 1- Try to "rollback driver" 2- if doesn't work, you might try system restore to the last known restore point before the driver swap... 3- or install driversweeper or driver cleaner pro, flush all nVIDIA drivers and start fresh with the driver you had before that was running fine...
-
Can you try to install/ re-install the monitor drivers? That would re-affirm the monitor's native resolution to the graphics card. Also, in the control panel > nVidia control panel > display > Adjust desktop size and resolution > TRY OPTIONS IN THERE (use screen built-in scaling could be one of them) Good luck!

Well, It seems like we're "taken care of" in terms of hardware. @ Nightmare, nice perf! I bought and installed Crysis Warhead/Crysis Wars...hopefully I'll see ya on the server! @ Turkey: Thanks...my case is big and has a quite a few cable management options, but a nicer newer Coolermaster case with a black interior, side panel intake fan and a PSU cable management shroud would have been a little nicer/neater, but I don't live in that case lolz. Good airflow is paramount, especially with cards that dump heat inside the case... now, I have to be happy and play my game and not to talk about upgrading for a good long time, or Mrs.Mofo will kill me while I sleep..(figure of speech of course)

You should be able to play the latest games at med-high settings at 1680 X 1050, maybe even at 1080P...with playable frame rates... some games like Metro 2033 are more demanding, but if you play COD games mostly, you'll be laughing

I used to get that a while ago, that was while using rivatuner (evga precision or MSI Afterburner is the same).... sometimes, PB "thinks" you're running a hack, but it's not...often it's one application running in the background giving PB a false positive... -
Alright, managed to clean up and tied up my cabling a little. Honestly, it's pretty much the best I can get...
-
Well, for the pics with "tidy cables" it's gonna have to wait...still horrible...lol The PSU cables are stiff and it's hard to tuck everything away nice and neat... I'll try hard.... Passmark is 3045, so yes, your theory on passmark may be right... 3D marks11 P-score is 7852... (I was getting 4200 with a single HD5870)....
-
Well, Nut, no guesstimates needed. MSi AFTERBURNER gives you whatever info you need on the in-game onscreen overlay... A quick test in Black ops seen the RPM on the fans of the TOP card from 1700 to 2600 rpm...bottom card from 1590 to 2250 rpm... Standard fan speed is 40%...I was playing BFBC2 at 1680 x 1050, 8X antialiasing, 8x anisotropic filtering, HBAO ON, all goodies on...I'm getting around 160 fps...max temp 65 celsius on top card...then I enabled VSYNC...temperatures dropped to 55-56..celsius... Only drawback to those cards, is if you intend to play on triple screen and / or at high resolutions (2560 X 1600)....then, more than 1GB per card might be helpful.... Again, in BFBC2, at above settings I was getting 650mb of video ram usage...so there is a little bit of "play" still. $230 per card is not bad, I get 20% to 40% more performance than a GTX580 (selling for $500) for $460 total...single card is always preferable I guess, in the big picture...and packs 1.5GB of RAM... Still, that SLI experience was flawless....no stutter, no game incompatibilities... I was a little worried at first...but it was unfounded...
-
The sound is barely noticeable...especially because I have LOTS of fans... I have a special exhaust duct that came with my case (ATCS840)...so it covers all expansion slots in the back, so it "extracts" some of the heat anyway...
-
I just received my 2 X 560Ti Twin Frozr II OCed... The cards came with an extra game I wasn't expecting...Lara Croft and the guardian of light...whatever...freebie! Also got Mafia2+Just Cause 2+ 3Dmarks11 advanced... I ran quick benchies: 3Dmarks06 = 31678 3Dmarks Vantage = 31127 3Dmarks11 = P7852 Not bad $230 per card....better performance ration than the GTX590 I had... highest temperature reached...66 Degrees celsius...pretty darn cool compared to GTX200-series and GTX400 Series...
-
T-mouse, So you took the plunge...you'll be happy with it. You got the K-version of the 2600?
