Do you run hlsw by any chance on the same PC? If you do, don't. I find that causes me issues like minimizes to desktop or flicker when map changes. Have you recently installed the latest windows update? If you have, that may be an issue. I'm just in the middle of reinstalling windows cause the update broke stuff.
