  1. Well the old drive is shot. No recovery possible. The magnetic head sheared the micro read portion off and scratched the disk. The new drive has managed to lock a partition to where 7 can access it. Today my mother has surprised me by buying a new laptop. Its another dell but little faster cpu, 4gb ram, 1tb hdd and such. Will post specs later after its running. Kinda teared up when she did that.
  2. @@7toes_ky unfortunately i had only dell to choose from at the college with financial aid.
  3. I blame Samsung for all the products I've bought with their logo has all ended in malfunction. The data I lost was some college documents and C++ coding homework I was working on for a big project. Luckily my class mate had the same copy for Visual Studio. Im now fighting the new Hard drive that crashed in the middle of installing DELL drivers and caused the OS (Win8) to lock up and caused issues accessing the drive. The OS just tries to load and then displays the Win8 error of 000021a, Reboots and tries to use the auto repair but that gets stuck and never does anything after that. I then did a full out format on the drive too erase all data off and try a fresh install of 8 but didnt work. Now running the reset PC function. If this doesnt work Im installing 7 and screw 8. Ill up to 10 after I play with it a bit in VirtualBox.
  4. Welll just got done finishing up installing the John Deere's 47 inch snow-blower for winter.
  5. I swear, I'm never Ever buying another DELL, or Samsung related products!!!! For one never got a timely answer on service. Two and mainly the reason for no more Samsung products , I shut the lid on my laptop which caused my hard drive to seize. I spent 2 days trying to recover the data off the old HDD and just now got win8 on the new HDD. Was the worse night Ive ever had, go to shut the lid on my laptop to watch Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D and then start hearing a weird beeping-kinda noise and a frozen screen. No BSOD just froze where it was at. Reboot the laptop, "Media Failure, No Media Connected, Media Check Failed and No Bootable medium found". So currently Im pretty upset. Still haven't had any luck in recovering my old data by using a external hookup. I opened the old drive to see whats causing the drive to stick. All I've noticed is the Read/Write arm goes from the parked position to on the disk and gets stuck. Any have any luck in recovering from this issue to where they save all their data?
  6. 7 And 9 ! Mainly 9 Who doesnt like awesome multinational tush?

  8. And all that running around ti find out some can be accessed via Xp
  9. Windows virtual machines and the win 98 iso from the vid did the trick. There is several disks that are shot. Im done pulling hair out for this evening. Now to figure out how to move the pics to the main computer to save to CD-ROM. That is a time where coffee is involved. Thanks all for the input.
  10. @@mouselad I am doing that right now, have to do a refresher on command-line processing been a year since I've used it out of college, @@Sammy There is nothing wrong with the floppies, our family friend still had the computer but all that worked was the floppy drive. The CDRom drive was shot and also wasn't a CD-RW. I've been doing research on thios also and it seems like its just how the data was written to the floppies that WinXP SP3 has an issue reading. Going to try running in Oracle VM(Virtual Machine): -WinXp SP2 -DosBox -and if I find a win98 OS to download I'd try that. Was seeing about input from peeps that have more seasoned knowledge on older systems.
  11. I just need win98 to transfer pictures over to cd lol. Nothing fancy.
  12. Both are in working order. They had a win98 system but no cd drive. Also my floppy drive is good, barely used. I just need a free win98 download even if its a trial version. I installed oracle VB i just need a os to put in.
  13. Very funny. I can't the disks arent mine.
  14. Yes I know all of you are wondering why the hell am I using a floppy drive. But its for a good cause, our family friend just bought a new computer not realizing that it didnt come with a floppy drive. So they asked me if I had one, which they were in luck because I still had my Mother's old DELL Dimension 8200 and had a floppy drive. So I cleaned up the Dino-computer, pushed it to winxp Sp3 from SP1( Service pack 1, then 1a, finally SP3), updated the PC through 190 updates, and popped in the first disc and got an error. "A:\ is not accessible. No ID address mark was found on the floppy disk." And as I am typing this, I just realized these disks are formatted to IBM. Suggestions?
  15. Well I've been always told to keep the cpu under 50-70 range since it would make the CPU lose life to it. Ive always kept my CPU at 30-45C even when playing demanding games.
  16. Well, the troublemaker was thermal compound. I will still have to purchase a case fan as added thermal reduction but for now it is running 30-35C. Also looked into fixing the LED lights that light my front panel which should show a blue spider but both the resistors are fried on both LED's.
  17. I agree wholeheartedly that the stock coolers are junk. Ive had best luck with either rocketfish or coolermaster or thermaltake cpu coolers. My psu doubles as a case fan but not cool air. It pulls the air out. I need to install a fan to bring cool air in also. I cant fork out too much funds running off unemployment so i have to stick woth what bestbuy has.
  18. Well she did reach 70° on the peak. I have the gigabyte motherboard that has the fan monitor to view real time rpms. I just used a different tool to post the info. Yes i have a stock intel cpu fan/heatsink but its dine a very good job of keeping it in the 35-40° range even when gaming. Only game that causes it to get stressed to get a higher temp was BO2 at full graphics. But cod4 maxed out never phases it. I was only taking a quiz on my internet browser when this happened. Im also a little behind on the monthly dusting of the tower as it is. Going to reapply silver thermal compound. My motherboard and cpu is only a lear old from when i bought it.
  19. Hello folks. Usually I try to keep my CPU temp at 35-40 degrees C but just noticed my cpu temp is hovering at 50-60 C. Is this normal? Or do I need a new fan, it sounds like i do since I dont hear it hitting top speed when I adjusted the fan speed in the desktop BIOS program. added a snapshot of my system that has temps and details. 20. Thanks @@BigPapaDean, for that helpful tool.
  21. Lol. Its not funky. They are cable and switch board cabinets made for this application. Not all the hook ups for the phone and ethernet jacks are active. They are all number coded for each wall jack so you can change which one you will use. These were made by Levithion. Heck there is a phine and internet access wires in the master bathroom and a phone in the basement bathroom. Also cable, phone, and internet in our carriagehouse ( like a barn).
  22. I like the Motorola Surfboard cable modem router/WiFi that I currently use. Lot better than the linksys we had which died due to the cable corroded in the cable jack of the box Think I have enough CAT-5e Ethernet cable running throughout the house? lol my room has phone/cable/internet hook ups on all 4 walls.
  23. @@blackcat There is always the program by Oracle, VirtualBox, where to can create operating system within your current system. I've used it many times in my college classes. Very safe and easy to use, if you have knowledge on installing a operating system then thats all you need and of course youll need the OS installation files for win98. If you go that route let me know and I'd be happy to TS3 with you and walk you through it. https://www.virtualbox.org/ <-- site with info. I may have to look into doing the same to run some starwars discs I have from the 90's that were only compatible with IBM and Win95/98.
  24. Gotta give Battle.net an applause for this interesting twist to the normal gore, slaying demons, undead, and other sheet. My.....Eyes...Willl....Never...Be...The.....Same..... http://social.xfire.com/videos/62cea5
