Had the same problem here a few weeks ago. Made XI servers unplayable on my primary internet (fiber). For reference, the ESC server had no CIs. Had to route COD4 traffic over my secondary (comcast) for about a week before it resolved itself. Tracert and pings showed no abnormalities during CIs. It was just weird, lol

Also make sure the mic is set as default device. win+r -> type "mmsys.cpl" -> ok -> Recording tab. Your mic should be in the list with a green checkmark. If in list, but no checkmark, then right-click and set as default device. If not listed and it is an analog headset, make sure it is fully plugged in and to the correct jack (typically the pink one). If USB, unplug/re-plug and also make sure to have installed the drivers for the device. If all is well with the mic, try running COD as administrator...for the longest time my computer wouldn't load CoD4 without running as admin... Had to repair windows to get it to work properly.

How do I turn the color on my monitor back on?
srt4fun replied to BigPapaDean's topic in General Discussion
You may have activated bedtime mode. Either turn it off or adjust the settings Settings > Digital Wellbeing & parental controls > Bedtime mode > Customize > Screen options at bedtime and turn Grayscale off More details can be found here: https://en-us.support.motorola.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/180904/~/adjust-screen-colors-at-night---motorola-razr---2024#:~:text=Go to Settings > Digital Wellbeing,Turn Grayscale off . Hope this helps! -
Ah shit, that's right it's 15, lol... I'm dumb

From what I understand, the kills must be in 1 round and not include killstreak kills. If you get 20 10 kills in one round then 5 in the next you will not get nuke D'après ce que j'ai compris, les kills doivent avoir lieu en 1 round et ne pas inclure les killstreak. Si vous obtenez 20 10 kills en un round, puis 5 au suivant, vous n'obtiendrez pas d'arme nucléaire.

Your video card definitely matters when selecting resolution/refresh rate, and your CPU to a somewhat lesser extent. At the extreme; 1080p monitor + RTX4090 = CPU bottleneck (even if you have a 14900K/7950X3D) and a waste of a 4090...that card could easily do 4k 250fps in COD4. My recommendation for standard size monitors: RTX3080/RX6800XT or better = 2160p(4k) RTX2060/RX6700 or better = 1440p Anything below 1440p cards = 1080p (assuming you will not be upgrading your graphics card, lol)

Easiest way is to copy the entire cod4 directory from your old computer to new one, depending on how many maps you had downloaded, it can be rather large... I've done this several times and had no problems besides re-entering the cd key on a fresh system.

Do you get BIOS display with the new card? If no display at BIOS --> Since the 3060 worked in another system, it's likely a BIOS issue. Reinstall the 3060, clear CMOS, power on, and should be good to go!

Do you have any on screen displays for statistics framerate/temps/etc? If I have RivaTuner running, my game will crash with a directx error when switching maps pretty much every time. I would disable xbox gamebar just in case, as it can cause issues. Win+i -> Gaming -> turn off settings. Or just uninstall it...

Could be a few things (CPU/GPU overheating, page file too small, corrupt files, driver issues, hardware issues, etc) I second what Hatchetman said, give it a good dusting, if you haven't already. Does it happen in other games? (YES: issue likely with system. NO: uninstall/reinstall CoD) Do you notice stutters/lag when not playing games (like browsing the web, playing music, or videos)? (YES: generally hardware issue (HDD/RAM/CPU) but maybe windows/software issue. NO: possibly driver problem, corrupt directx files, GPU problem, overheating) When playing CoD, do your fans spin up like it's trying to fly away? (YES: possible hardware overheating...double check with temperature monitoring software!* (if needed, clean the PC and/or repaste CPU/GPU). NO: could indicate other hardware/software faults.) What are your PC's specs? Last time thermal paste redone? (if ever, lol)... Usually recommended every 1-3yrs for gaming rigs... depending on level of cooling performance you require and quality of paste, of course. *Normal CPU/GPU temps, at load, are anything up to about 65-75C (up to ~85C for GPUs). Generally, anything above that (for desktop PCs) is "overheating" (assuming no overclock with appropriate cooling). If load is applied and CPU/GPU temp quickly rises to 90-100C, you have a cooling problem.

Ahh gotcha, I assume Rick increased the size of the windows paging file and that you are not actually running low on HDD space, lol
-
I've heard of reports that that error is a CPU fault. Perhaps is your CPU a 13th or 14th gen Intel?
-
When you load up CoD4 the image is still there? If so, then it is definitely a monitor issue. Call AOC support, it should still be under warranty!

Ping/CI issues causing freezing during game play
srt4fun replied to NachoMama's topic in Computer Help
That kind of stuttering, in my experience, has been HDD failing. What are your CPU temps? idle/load Never hurts to run "SFC.exe -scannow" from an elevated terminal window to see if there are any issues with system files. Edit: Ahh, I read your message as it stutters at all times... try other full screen games to see if it happens. If only with COD, then fresh install the game and see. -
Haha, just realized that I commented on the file itself, not here. Program works great!

Smart plugs powerline ethernet and dirty electricity
srt4fun replied to Labob's topic in General Discussion
Ahhh, gotcha, so just one pair. Then there's not much to do that's easy or cheap...filtering each smart plug individually has the possibility to not help the situation either. The best suggestion I have is to check if both circuits that the adapters are plugged into are the same phase. If not, plug one of the adapters into a nearby circuit on the same phase as the other and retest with your smart plugs. Hopefully there will be improvement. If they are already on same phase, then I don't have any other suggestions The ones I have are a pair of Netgear PL1010v2s and a matching WiFi powerline extender. If you want to try another brand I could send you these ones (They have been sitting on a shelf for 6+ months), lol. -
Smart plugs powerline ethernet and dirty electricity
srt4fun replied to Labob's topic in General Discussion
Ahhh yes, I see the predicament... How many powerline devices do you have in-network? which models do you use? I had 2 in place at the beginning, then added a 3rd later. When it was 2 it was quite reliable, unless heavy electric usage. After I added the 3rd (same model) did notice a degradation of the powerline network (dropping to orange/red more often)... Possibly due to the "noise" from the additional repeater. If you are using more than 2 devices, try removing all but 2, activate your smart plugs a few times, and observe your signal status. If it stays good, add back a powerline device one at a time, and repeat test. That may help you find the saturation limit for your devices. But then again, it may be a single powerline device that is pulling your network down. If you are comfortable with your electrical panel, you could make sure that all your powerline devices are on the same phase (crossing phases can reduce signal quality by a little or a lot depending on your home's electric supply). Some AFCI/GFCI breakers can filter your powerline signal as well... -
Run as administrator, have had similar issue on win11 Symptoms observed (by me) on win11 without running as admin: -Game crash on load -Game crash right after "Setting up Game" when map loaded -Some other servers would load into the game, typically unmodded servers. -Single player works but not multiplayer

Smart plugs powerline ethernet and dirty electricity
srt4fun replied to Labob's topic in General Discussion
I used to use them as well for TVs and such. Found that if they were on the same leg they would work better. But even so, if certain appliances turned on it would disrupt the network. Even if they were on the same branch circuit they would get slow. Got so fed up I just ran Cat6 to each room, lol. Filters aren't necessarily a good thing, had a power strip that had a filter in it but the power line adapter would not work, while plugged into it, until I removed the filter from the strip, hahaha. My whole house is automated with zwave and zigbee devices so I agree with you that filtering each device is really not going to happen...probably cheaper (and much much more reliable) to just run cat6 through the house than to buy filters for each device! -
Welcome back! You're a great team member on and off the team!

Makes sense, I stand corrected

Bogleg, your display is running @60Hz. That's a 165Hz monitor. Budman is also @60Hz on a 144Hz monitor Don't forget to change ingame as well, if you haven't, lol.
