Q? do you have a webcam these days all decent webcams have built in mics. . if so forget the usb mic and use the use the mic on the webcam. Skype and cod4 will work fine.

This is "Male" I'm a PC Tech I'll solve your problem on that ole xp machine. 1st I'll backup your important stuff & then using teamviewer I'll upload u a copy of windows 7 / install it and put your game back in the new install and presto! 1st download & install teamviewer from www.teamviewer.com/en/endex.aspx then call me @ 3174890051. this will cost you nothing buddy. This is what I do & I love my work. Sometimes we make money and sometimes we just help someone.
