Having a blast playing with ya'll again. Haven't been around for a while. you know how it goes.

anyway, was just wondering what FPS ya'll are averaging. I am somewhere between 27 to 40 something. am debating on a new video card or something, I would like to get into the 60's or better.

some input would be great.

i have:

intel core 2 quad @ 2.4ghz

4gig ram

8600gt @ 512mB

win 7 x64

I set MAX FPS to 125. I get between 90-125 fps, more often 110-125fps.

Q9550 @ 3.8GHz

4 gig

XFX Radeon HD5870.

Win7 64 bits

Resolution 1680 X 1050, settings 4 X AA, 8 X AF, all other settings to max.

Your 8600Gt is getting a little "long in the tooth".

Your Quad, while being a good CPU, could be pushed to 3.0GHZ without much trouble if you are interested in purchasing an aftermarket cooler and if your motherboard have appropriate overclocking options.....

Careful, look at your Power supply's capacity and connectors before shopping for Graphics cards...

You can look for GTX460s, Radeon HD6850 or 6870... all within the $170-$250.. (high midrange gaming cards)

There is new cards coming out soon, so expect price drops on above-mentioned cards...

GTX570 is coming soon (Dec 7th)...using the same vapor-chamber heatsink....Radeon HD6950 and HD6970 are coming out also this month (Dec.13th I think), both will target the $350-$450 price range I suspect...

If you need help, either use PM, or post in the computer section of the forum!!!

thanks for the input. the GTX460 is looking like the winner.

some overtime at work will get that taken care of soon.

even though the 8600gt is getting rusty, it has performed great with everything I've thrown at it until now, which is why I opted to post in this section, kind of felt like it was game specific, not general pc.
