Here are the top 10 states for voter turnout in the 2008 general election:

10. Missouri - 67.6%

9. Oregon - 67.7%

8. Alaska - 68%

7. Michigan - 69.2%

6. Iowa - 69.4%

5. Maine - 70.6%

4. Colorado - 71%

3. New Hampshire - 71.7%

2. Wisconsin - 72.4%

1. Minnesota - 77.8% (highest turnout in the nation)

The worst 10:

52nd. Hawaii - 48.8% (lowest turnout in the nation)

51st. West Virginia - 49.9%

50th. Arkansas - 52.5%

49th. Texas - 54.1%

48th. Oklahoma - 55.8%

47th. Utah - 56%

46th. Arizona - 56.7%

45th. Tennessee - 57%

44th. Nevada - 57%

43rd. Kentucky - 57.9%

Notice that with the exception of Missouri, the the states where voter turnout was the highest in the country all have something in common: it's colder that a witch's tit in a brass bra in them there parts in November. The reason voting is a big deal is that from October through April, there isn't shit else to do in those states except go to the local bar and get drunk - and cheat on your spouse. Voting provides another excuse to hit the bars and shoot the shit about the election over 20-30 beers. (Reason Missouri is an exception is that Missouri is the Me Too state and if someone votes, everybody's got to vote to support the state motto.)

Likewise, the states with the lowest turnout are all in the south - where it's warm in November. We're still doing barbecue in November so who the hell has time to vote?

Hey HXTR--you need to get your fellow Texans to the polls to vote for Mitt!!!!!

Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves and the only way they could do this is by not voting.

Here in Canada, voter turnout is 61% in the last election... Now if they served Beer at the election polls, I would bet that turnout would be much higher!..
