The odds are always in your favor when you jump in the ocean, but one in a million does happen from time to time. I scuba dive in the San Francisco bay area. The area from about 100 miles south of the bay to 100 miles north and out a few miles is known as the red triangle, and we have more deaths by shark attack here than anyplace in the world, always by great whites. I've seen white sharks while out fishing in big boats and I know that when I dive there is always a chance that one will be in the neighborhood, but I refuse to give up something that gives me so much pleasure. It would be like quitting driving because I'm afraid I might get into an accident. deerejon
 Awards
