US Server - DataCenter Upgrades
OddJob001 posted a topic in Battlefield 4's Battlefield 4 Discussion
I will try to always provide any information regarding the server. Here is some good news! Yay new 10Gb connection! -
I really want to stream, but I messed around with twitch last week and just couldnt get a good combination of it both looking good on twitch, and keeping FPS's above 50. My card should be able to handle it no problem. Im wondering if its my processor. it is getting older. Next thing I am going to do is setup a proxy between my computer and twtich, so that the proxy computer does all the calculations to twitch, leaving it open for my computer to run BF.

I just have way too much fun doing stupid shit in the game to ever be pro. They would be like, why is he riding on top of a tank in the the wide open, throwing flares at the ground and then RPGing them? Or more so, in your specific scenario, why is he landing the Little Bird on top of the tank that Acucats is driving?!

This is from the day we moved to NFO, until now. Its starting to come back. I told you guys it would!! lol

We'll leave it up for now. I doubt anyone will focus this attack on our server. The Commander mode has brought quite a bit more population, so I think its a good thing. I dont actually miss CTF either. I just wish they would add Commander support to CTF.

GameMe Scoring System - US 64 Man
OddJob001 replied to OddJob001's topic in Battlefield 4's Battlefield 4 Discussion
Changed Max Skill Change to 100pts Change Min Skill Change to 1pts Change victim lost pts from "1/2 the killers pts" to "all of killers pts" This means if you kill a player and the equation equals to 40 pts for the killer, the victim will also lose 40 pts. There two changes should help move people up and down much faster. Example: I will use acucats, the top player, and myself to show you the change. Acucats: 74,318 pts OddJob: 32,681 pts If I killed Acucats here is what the equation would be: (74318/32,681) * 1.0 * 5 = 11.37 ~ 11.0 I would then get 11 pts and Acucats would respectively lose 11 pts If Acucats kills me, here is what the equation would be: (32,681/74318) * 1.0 * 5 = 2.19 ~ 2.0 Acucats would then get 2.0 pts and I would lose 2.0 pts Previous to this change, in the first example I would have got the 11pts and Cats would have lost 11. No change here. However, in the second example, Acucats would have got 10 pts and I would have lost 10, as 10 was the minimum change amount. Now the change amount is 1. This gives nearly all players the chance to take over top 10 spots in rank. If a new player killed Acucats here is what it would look like: (74318/1000) * 1.0 * 5 = 371.59 ~ 372 However, the max point change is 100. So this player would have gained 100 pts and Acucats would lose 100 pts. -
Removing most of the Supression Effects
OddJob001 replied to OddJob001's topic in Battlefield 4's Battlefield 4 Discussion
Yes DICE has said any changes to a user.cfg are 100% acceptable. It doesnt remove suppression blur in front of you, mostly just your environment; trees, rocks, peripheral vision. -

Many of you have asked how points are calculated through GameMe. Here you go. Point Calculations A new player has 1000 points. Every time you make a kill, you gain a certain amount of points depending on 1) the victim's points rating, and 2) the weapon you used. If you kill someone with a higher points rating than you, you gain more points than if you kill someone with a lower points rating than you. Therefore, killing newbies will not get you as far as killing the #1 player. And if you kill someone with your knife, you gain more points than if you kill them with a rifle, for example. When you are killed, you lose a certain amount of points, which again depends on the points rating of your killer and the weapon they used (you don't lose as many points for being killed by the #1 player with a rifle than you do for being killed by a low ranked player with a knife). This makes moving up the rankings easier, but makes staying in the top spots harder. Specifically, the equations are: Killer Points = Killer Points + (Victim Points / Killer Points) × Weapon Modifier × 5 Victim Points = Victim Points - (Victim Points / Killer Points) × Weapon Modifier × 5 The total pts per 1 kill or death is 25 pts maximum and 2 pts minimum. This will most likely be changed to make moving up and down the ladder faster. Additional point bonuses are available for completing objectives by any of the following: Weapon Modifiers These are multipliers added to the equation above. Basically; AR|CARBINE|PDW = 1.0 per kill - DMRs = 1.10 - Shotgun = 1.25 - Sniper Rifles = 1.30 (I fixed the CZ-3A1 while making this) If you notice other errors or think things should be changed, we can talk about it. 3. How can I edit my profile and set real name, e-mail address, homepage and ICQ number? Player profile options can be configured by saying the appropriate gameme_set command while you are playing on a participating gameserver. To issue commands, push your chat key and type the command text. Syntax: say /gameme_set option value Acceptable "options" are: realname Sets your Real Name as shown in your profile. Example: /gameme_set realname Joe Bloggs email Sets your E-mail Address as shown in your profile. Example: /gameme_set email [email protected] homepage Sets your Home Page as shown in your profile. Example: /gameme_set homepage icq Sets your ICQ Number as shown in your profile. Example: /gameme_set icq 123456789 Note: These are not standard Half-Life console commands. If you type them in the console, Half-Life might give you an error. 4. My rank is embarrassing. How can I opt out? Say /gameme_hideranking while playing on a participating gameserver. This will toggle you between being visible on the Player Ranking and being invisible. Note: You will still be tracked and you can still view your Player Details page. Use the Search page to find yourself.

A $250-$290 card will be eons ahead of a $150 card and will last you probably another 3-5 years (depending on your comfort for frames per second) as opposed to 1-2 years for the latter.- 35 replies

Couldnt tell you anymore. I got a new card that is not OC'd (evga 770GTX 4GB ACX). However for BF3 I would get crazy texture flickering and screen tearing. It was a known issue with BF3 to not run an OC'd card. Maybe they fixed that for BF4. I could stand corrected for OCing with BF4.- 35 replies

BTW, DO NO OVERCLOCK WITH BF4. You will have problems. BF3 didnt like it either. I had an manufacture OC'd card and had to actually underclock it to get BF3 to work.- 35 replies

The video and review are awesome. I agree on Sids main point. Pies. Its all about angles. When you get accustomed to the maps, you really know what angles to take to make sure you are least exposed, while ensuring that you are watching the angles enemies are most likely to come from. For instance, never run down the middle of a hallway, use the left or right side while keeping your crosshair at the door ahead of you. When you get to the door, then move to the middle and enter. I think understanding angles of attack is probably the key feature in survivability. Along with something I do not have alot of when it comes to FPS's. Patience. I am starting to realize patience will get me more kills and less deaths. Albeit sometimes I dont care. Many times you will see me run into a room where I know there are 4-5 guys. But if I can take down 2-3 I am happy. I just dont give a shit about deaths in FPS's. Provided one thing happens, the rest of my team follows me. Ive notice from years of FPS's, most people are afraid to move up, but once one person does, the rest of the team has a tendency to follow. I will happily be the guy that gets the rest of my team to move up. 100% of deaths in BF4 are virtual, after all.

32 Player Server?
OddJob001 replied to Fir3Marshal's topic in Battlefield 4's Battlefield 4 Discussion
(The word You below will refer to You the player base, aka everyone) The fact of the matter is making multiple changes is generally a bad idea for a server. What is really going on with population? It's simple to see when we look at the history of our server, along with overall population of BF4. Population numbers for the last week or two have not made alot of sense. I have been recording the overall PC population for the last 2 weeks. I have noticed anytime the overall population is above 35,000, our server is populated. When its below, we struggle. take for example Saturday night. On Saturday at 7pm there were ONLY 23,000 PC players online total. Monday morning at 10am, 36,000. This makes no sense. I tend to add alot of servers to my favorites, simply for watching their population, settings and map changes. These servers are just as dead as ours when population is below 36,000. For whatever reason the PC population as a whole has been down the last two weeks. What has happened in the last 2 week? Spring Break for many people, half the nation with temperatures over 50 for the first time in months, Titanfall release. A lot of things that are keeping overall population low. Let's look at another aspect. Our server specifically. We never changed our server ID (the way the battlelog keeps track of your server) since the beginning of the game. This means 5 months our server was out there and people were adding it to their favorites. We moved to NFO about 3 weeks ago. This means the original Server ID was out there for nearly 7 times longer than our current server. This exact same thing happened when we moved the BF3 server long ago. It took some time for it to get back to fully populated, 64 players, every night. And it will take time again. But I guarantee you it will be back. It needs that time for players to find us. Sometimes to even find us a 3rd or 4th time, until they add us to their favorites. All in all, the best way to get the population on our server at 64 players all the time? To have a good base of players willing to populate it. Servers do not populate themselves and if you look at most of the servers that are populated often, they are larger clans than ours. TBG, JRKs, PURE. These clans will accept nearly anyone no matter the dedication. By now you should know XI looks for quality, dedicated players, not quantity. I understand people have their set play times and don't expect people to sit in a low populated server, but its a catch 22. If you dont play in it when its low pop, it will never have high pop. The other way to get people to come back is to send out invites to your friends on Battlelog. How many of you do this? Another way? Use the in game VOIP. I have got 2 people in the last 4 days to come in to TS and add us to their favs just by talking to them in over in game VOIP. Does anyone else do this? Does anyone else encourage people to join TS? We as Admins can only do so much to get the server populated, we must also lean on the support of our player base, you guys. I post a link to our server on forums, blogs, reddit nearly 5 times a week. How many others are doing this? I log in to the server every single morning before I go to work, and when I go to bed I never log out. This at least creates a perspective that there are more players in the server, thus causing more players to join. Think to yourself, do you log in to the server before you go to work? Could you? Would it be so hard to do? How about not logging out of the game when you go to bed, or when you go get dinner? These are all things people should think about. My entire mind set when it comes to the Xi server is how can I get more people in? Because I know once they are in, and part of the XI family, they wont want to play on another server. I know I don't. So take this time to think about what YOU are doing to make the server you seem to appreciate, a better, more populated place for others to enjoy. -
