  4. Elite for PC will NOT be the same as it is for XBOX/PS3
  5. Beachhead says it needs a lot more work before launching on PC. Call of Duty Elite for PC won't launch alongside Modern Warfare 3, and when it does appear will lack the premium features of the console version, developer Beachhead has announced. "We're as committed as ever to the PC, but the need to ensure a safe PC environment is greater than ever," Beachhead Studio head Chacko Sonny told Activision's Dan Amrich. "It's really extensive. We need more time to get there, so Elite on PC will not launch on Day 1. We're working our butts off to make it happen, but we won't release it until we know that PC gamers can enjoy Elite as it's meant to be. "The issue here is that the PC is an insecure platform. Without a central, trusted resource for stats, a lot of our competition features become unfair. We can't give away prizes when people can easily cheat their stats. Leaderboards are less fun when a lot of the users are there unfairly. Product director Noah Heller added: "As Chacko mentioned, not being able to trust stats is a big problem for our design. Because of this, we had to re-imagine Elite for PC. Elite for PC will be about access to your own stats, or those of your friends. Basically establishing a circle of trust. And because it will have some reduced functionality, it will be free for everyone." So what about all the planned DLC? "PC guys will be able to purchase their DLC content a la carte, just like it has worked before," said Heller. Asked when and in what form Elite would eventually appear on PC, Chacko Sonny concluded: "We're working on it, but it is not going to come out until we've done a lot more work. At this point I need to say, 'It will be ready when it is ready.' I'm a PC gamer myself and I don't want to ship something to this community that doesn't have the polish that they deserve." Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will launch November 8 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. Console versions will be supported by a fully functioning Elite service. If you're a little rusty on what's happened so far in the Modern Warfare franchise, check out our comprehensive story so far feature.
  6. Here is a website to get some more info for MW3 http://beta.digitalwarfare247.com/games/modernwarfare3/
  7. TE_Jackal I have a question, not bashing. Do you have to have that 50$ a year service to get and play the DC? No but you will have to purchase DLC as you do now for BlackOps.
  8. As the title who all is getting MW3. Please no bashing the game just say I am if you are if not plz dont post.
  9. If you're into military shooters, you're pretty much in heaven right now. EA's well-received Battlefield 3 survived a rickety launch last week to enjoy the biggest first week sales of any game this year, and just around the corner lurks an even bigger operation: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.Ruining work productivity on November 8, the game is widely expected to continue the franchise's trend of breaking its own entertainment launch records. First it smashed records with Modern Warfare 2, then went ahead and obliterated those with last year's Black Ops. Can it pull off the three-peat? We won't know for certain until after the midnight launch parties die down a bit, but we know plenty about the game already. Here are five things you should know, too. It's a worldwide war. The new game's plot picks up where Modern Warfare 2 left off, with the Russian Federation hell bent on wreaking havoc across the world. Sounds like a bummer, but if not if you dig virtual travel.Modern Warfare 3 scoops up even more frequent flier miles by letting players shoot it out from New York to Somalia, with pitstops in hot spots like London, Paris, Berlin, Moscow, and Dubai. That even includes a stop at Wall Street to take out a radar installation , uh, 'occupying' the New York Stock Exchange. Though it likely won't pack the controversial punch of Modern Warfare 2's notorious 'No Russian' level, expect plenty of cinematic wow moments over the course of the game's campaign. It's got new modes. If you play the single-player at all, that is. The majority of players will probably be picking this bad boy up purely for the multiplayer. The good news is that they'll have some cool surprises waiting for them. One of the game's buzziest new modes is 'Kill Confirmed,' which plays out like a typical Team Deathmatch, but requires that players snag the dog tags of downed enemies for the kills to count. Should your teammates grab your tag before the enemy does, the kill is denied. Take out four guys with an amazing grenade toss? You better grab their dog tags, too, or it doesn't count. If you prefer to play co-operatively, the new 'Spec-Ops: Survival' mode is the way to go. Waves of enemies will come pouring in at your and your buddies; take them out to gain funds, which you can then spend on a wide range of defenses. Think Gears of War's Horde mode or Halo's Firefight and you've got the picture. It's a package deal. Playing multiplayer in past Call of Duty games was all about racking up Killstreaks, which would grant certain abilities based on how many kills a player could string together without dying. While that will still be part of Modern Warfare 3, it's gotten a bit more complicated and a whole lot cooler.Players will now choose one of three 'Strike Packages' — Assault, Support or Specialist — which reward different play styles. Prefer to focus on completing objectives rather than just gunning down foes? You'll rack up "Pointstreaks" either way, which will unlock different abilities for the three different packages. The result is a game that rewards more play styles — and more players. It's a number-cruncher. Launching alongside Modern Warfare 3 is Call of Duty: Elite, a service that keeps track of every bullet fired and offers all sorts of advice to turn you into a Call of Duty pro. It comes in two models: a free version, which grants access to robust matchmaking features, stat tracking and loads of guides and tips, and a subscription-based service that includes all sorts of cool extras for the Call of Duty die-hard, such as early access to downloadable content, daily tournaments with prizes, clan benefits, and more. Check out this handy chart for the specifics. Should you pony up for the extras? It runs $50 a year, so that really depends on how seriously you take your Duty. Either way, expect Elite to make you a better player. It's on pace to break records. Again. Pre-orders are a good indicator for how a game might fare at retail — and Modern Warfare 3's pre-orders are already pretty impressive. Earlier this year, both GameStop and UK retailer GAME noted that Modern Warfare 3 was on pace to outperform Black Ops, and though Activision itself has remained coy on the actual pre-order figures, they seem impressed with how it's shaking out. "Call of Duty: Black Ops set records for the most pre-orders of a game," the company told us in a statement. "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is tracking substantially ahead of that number." Sound familiar? That's because Black Ops managed to outpace Modern Warfare 2 as well, and went on to breaks that game's launch sales numbers.
  10. The first MW3 server is going to run Moshpit (mixture of all game modes)
  11. snaFU73 Will there be Modtools for Modern Warfare 3 on PC? Mod Tools will not be shipped at launch. As always we are continually evaluating features to support post launch and this is one requiring further discussion. That sounds like a "NO" to me. They are not going to provide tools that will enable the gaming comunity to extend the life of a game when people will line up for a yearly release. We can only just wait and see.
  12. Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will feature a multitude of mission-based like Modern Warfare 2 as well as survival Special Ops modes where players will have to keep fighting until they get overrun by increasingly tougher waves of enemies as you progress. Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games has put aton of emphasis on delivering a PC experience that brings in all the great things we added in Modern Warfare 2: Lobby System Matchmaking with a Party Matchmaking for Public Games Steam Integration (Friends List, Server Browser,Achievements, Join on Friends) While combining it with your favorite features from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare: Dedicated Servers (Join your favorite or set up your own, without any 3rd party hosting requirements) In-game Server Browser that allows you to filter by ping, map, gametype, hardcore, voice, password, and more. In addition, Infinity Ward is supporting PC specific features that give you even more control over your experience like RCON, Custom Game Saving, NoGFX / Audio Card Requirement on DS.exe, Voice Chat, and SSAO. Minimum System Requirements: OS: Windows XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7 Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 or AMD Phenom X38750 processor or better Memory: 16 GB free hard drive space / 2GB RAM Video Card: Shader 3.0 or better 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT / ATI Radeon X1950 or better Sound Card: DirectX 9.0C or later Does the PC version of Modern Warfare 3 support the same Private Match options? Yes! PC players can fully customize their private / dedicated server games through full control over Class Restrictions, Custom Gamemode creation, access to unique private match modes like One in the Chamber,Gun Game, and Infected, as well as save their custom games for future use. Will Modern Warfare 3 have Dedicated Servers? Yes! Modern Warfare 3 supported matchmaking as well as Dedicated Servers, allowing players to find and filter via an in-game server browser or set-up their own Dedicated Server for complete control, without being restricted by any 3rd party hosting requirements. If looking for a Dedicated Server to join, if you choose not to set up your own, you can filter and favorite by Ping, Map, Gametype, Hardcore Variants, Voice, Password, and many other options. Are Dedicated Servers Ranked or UnRanked? Only matchmaking to public games are Ranked (meaning, you have to rank up to unlock weapons to rank on the leaderboards), choosing to play on a Dedicated Server is UnRanked. Meaning unlocks are completely controlled by the Server Admin. They can choose to unlock everything or limit class restrictions to whatever they like to fully customize the experience. You do not have to rank up in Public games to have access to weapons in Dedicated Servers, you have complete control over what is unlocked for you in a Unranked Dedicated Server. Will MW3 on PC have unique graphic options available? Yes! You have a lot of graphic options, including enablingand disabling of new rendering features such as SSAO, you'll also be able to modify DOF, Shadows, Anti-Aliasing, Texture Resolution and more. Will Remote Console (RCON) be available to server admins? Yes! You'll be able to admin your server using RCON. We'll support all things you'd expect, such as Kicking & Banning players, map rotation, private chat to players, reloading the map, and more. Does Modern Warfare 3 on PC support an in-game Server Browser? Can you also use matchmaking? Yes! In addition to the public matchmaking system for finding Ranked public games, you can use the in-game server browser to find and favorite unranked Dedicated Servers to join, which can be filtered by a number of options mentioned above. How is Modern Warfare 3 on PC handling anti-cheat? Security is a major focus for Modern Warfare 3, especially coming out of Modern Warfare 2. We will be utilizing multiple methods of Anti-cheat and Security methods, including Steam's VAC system, CEG, and our own propriety methods implemented to provide multiple layers of defense in keeping online multiplayer fun, fair, and secure for all players without limiting the control they expect on PC. Will Modern Warfare 3 on PC support STEAM? Yes! MW3 is fully integrated with Steamworks, including the Steam Friends List (in addition to the in-game friends list), Steam Server Browser (in addition to the in-game one), Steam Achievements, and the ability to join friends matches. Will Spec Ops have matchmaking on PC? Yes! As well as Spec Ops specific leaderboards and a full progressive ranking system. What is the Maxplayer count for Modern Warfare 3 on PC? Currently it is 18 players max (in Ground War) but it may increase post launch. Will Modern Warfare 3 on PC have LAN support? Yes! What is the overall design philosophy regarding PC? How is IW/SH providing for the unique needs of PC players? We value the PC player and have gone to great lengths inproviding a more rich experience for our players. We keep our ear near the ground and try todeliver items most requested. The big feature for MW3 we are supporting is Dedicated Servers, this includes a serverbrowser, voting, RCON, and more. Also we’ve implemented some PC only rendering features including SSAO. Lastly we are embracing the STEAM platform by integrating fully with Steam including friends list, STEAM achievements. How is the game being optimized for PC hardware? We do wide testing across all tiers of PC, in our office wehave an old minspec machine that receives just as much care as our top tier PC. We’ve also engaged the hardware manufactures for wider compatibility testing for us to ensure an optimized bug free launch. Can we set our max FPS? No. Setting Max FPS is not a user controllable option. Will 'lean' be in the game? No. We chose to keep lean out of the game to keep the gameplay experience universal across all platforms. This was a gameplay design decision. Will there be Modtools for Modern Warfare 3 on PC? Mod Tools will not be shipped at launch. As always we are continually evaluating features to support post launch and this is one requiring further discussion.
  13. Found this on BashAndSlash Thought you Crysis Guys may like Crytek’s Warface F2P By Jock – October 29, 2011Posted in: F2P A few months ago, yet another entrant into the Free-to-Play (F2P) arena was announced: Crytek’s Warface. Crytek joins a very impressive list of gaming companies bringing their franchises into the F2P world. Today, we look at the swing towards the free-model and especially, we take a belated peek at Warface, a game that may indeed change the face of war for F2P-gamers. Fad or Rad? The gaming industry seems to go through periodic phases and fads. Up until recently, the hot word being bandied about was “subscription”. For the shooter genre, the “sub” model seemed to hit a crescendo back in mid-2010 when Activision-Blizzard head-honcho and High King Modimus stunt-double, Bobby Kotick, told the world he would love to see the CoD franchise go the way of subscription. King Kotick’s utterance instantly generated the perfect poop-storm amongst CoD faithful, who rebelled against the idea of giving up more of their gold for the privilege of playing a console-ready game. One could argue that the strong brush back of CoD’s subscription model was a win for FPS gamers who apparently kept CoD’s status-quo. However, others will argue that full subscription has only been delayed and as proof, they point to the CoDElite service, which will be offered with all future CoDs. Cynics will say that CoDElite might simply be a way to train CoD-heads into accepting the inevitable across the whole franchise. Whether the fight against subscription was a win, or a loss for gamers, 2010 did seem to usher in a new direction. In an attempt to curry the favor of disgruntled FPS’ers, many gaming companies chose to go anywhere but subscription. One of those new directions was the free-to-play model. Obviously, while F2P did not start in 2010, the result of the pushback against subscription, gave it much more momentum. Time to shine Regardless of the push it got from the anti-sub movement, F2P’s time to shine may just have been as a result of the confluence of multiple forces. With the economic success of Asia and South America, there has been a huge increase in the number of world-wide gamers. Unfortunately, many developing-world gamers still can’t pay AAA prices for AAA games. By going the F2P route, big publishers can at the very least, develop brand recognition and loyalty in gamer-rich, economic hot-spots like Asia and South America. Small publishers and indie-devs look at F2P as a growing market that sports few quality competitors. To everyone’s benefit, F2P also helps stems piracy as it provides a legal, morally-legitimate way to play for world gamers who cannot yet afford to pay full price for games. From a business point of view, F2P is a good ol’, Charlie Sheen-like win-win. Gaming engines are become very affordable and this gives even small coding outfits a chance to compete with the big-boys. All in all, we are seeing the quality of F2P rise due to the availability of products like UT3. Many B+ games out there are realizing that F2P is a great way to introduce the world to their IP. Developers are converting a failed, or moderately successful, for pay game into an F2P as a way to build brand recognition. By doing so, they may even be fashioning a game that acts as a loss-leader into their portfolio of games. Digital distribution, for example a service like Steam, levels the playing field and provides developers the capability to get their game to players in a way that once, could only be done by major publishers. F2P gaming is now in the right place at the right time to make a big difference to the way we game. The only thing missing is a quality game that will capture the imagination of the millions of gamers worldwide that are ready to embrace the concept. What we need is a great looking, near-AAA game to come by. Enter Crytek. Get your Warface on Crytek, the folks that brought your PC to its knees back in Crysis, are developing a new shooter called Warface and not since Valve announced that TF2 was going F2P has the free-shooter world been as excited about a game. Warface will employ Crytek’s CryENGINE®3 which is sure to set the tech bar as high as it has ever gotten in the F2P shooter world. The game was initially intended to be marketed towards Chinese gamers, but Crytek recently announced that it will be making Warface available to North American gamers by 2012. The game’s reach is global and unsurprisingly, Crytek is using global resources to make it. It’s being currently developed by Crytek Kiev and co-produced by Crytek Seoul, with overwatch by Crytek Frankfurt. This was the original press release from Cryek back in August: Crytek GmbH (Crytek) announced today that its free-to-play online FPS Warface – that was previously announced for a release in mainland China – will hit the Western markets in 2012. The CryENGINE ® 3 powered military shooter with its near future setting marks a major milestone in the studio’s history and provides gamers with a constantly updated extensive PVE universe full of dramatic multiplayer co-op missions, a full set of class based PVP. Warface is designed completely from scratch to support a free-to-play business model and will be available for PC. “With Warface we aim to become the next-gen of free to play shooters that are en par with traditional AAA games in terms of quality. We have the team and technology to make it happen and are starting with a strong partner in Asia to ensure we gain experience with the free to play business model. ”, said Cevat Yerli, CEO & President of Crytek. “It’s the next logical step for us to bring this new IP to a global audience and thus to our worldwide community.” Source Putting Massive into MMO In order for F2P and its micro-transaction economic model to make sense, you need to gather together a massive player base, given that only a small percentage of gamers will actually do any of that micro-transacting. What this could mean is that CryENGINE®3 might have to be extremely adaptable. After all, it will need to allow even the lowliest PC to run the game and yet it will still need to provide the jaw-dropping eye-candy that we all expect from any game with the word “Cry” in the title. The low end is key to F2P. As I have said in previous articles, I for one would like to see developers continue to cater to the bottom feeders in the PC market because that’s where the growth will be in the next few years and PC gaming badly needs those potential players. Cross platform AAA games usually only see 7-10% of their sales going to PC consumers. This low number is why the big publishers are leaving us for the big demographics over on the console side. Resisting this industry trend, F2P has a chance of actually reversing the flow of players back to our favorite platform. Warface is a PC exclusive title, hopefully it will allow even the crappiest laptop to run it with reasonable frame rate. Add the Crytek name on the game and that might be all you need to bring players flocking back to PC. Tencent You might have noticed the “Tencent” logo on that YouTube vid above. No, Tencent is not a devalued rap singer, Tencent is a Chinese tech company that has grown beyond just being one of China’s largest ISP’s and has gone into gaming in a big way. Tencent Games is now an online game developer and operator and has recently been licensed to offer Warface exclusively in China. Tencent already offers free FPS MMO’s like A.V.A. and Crossfire, a game it developed. Crossfire is hugely popular, with sometimes nearly 700K players gaming online concurrently. Even if Warface simply meets Crossfire’s success, imagine the momentum of a game with that many online PC players — in China alone. This is the potential of F2P and the potential of PC gaming. Beta As I have said, the word “Crytek” alone in the name will elevate the hype around the game. What might settle that hype down is good ol’fashion Beta footage. So here’s some, right here: Player vs. Environment (Co-Op) Player on Player (Multiplayer) As you can see, F2P is still far from competing with AAA. But remember, baby-steps people. Baby-steps. When the game is released here in NA, Warface will probably be one of the best looking FPS in the F2P arena. Looks are one thing, will it be one of the best playing? Tough to tell. We’ll need to wait until 2012.
  14. Happy Birthday you puff cake. LMAO
  15. At the moment it hasnt been discussed but will disuss it this week and I will get back to you on what is decided.

  18. I ts not different then those paying a monthly subscription to WoW Its an asome game and all who play it enjoy it. What we enjoy most is being able to play with our fellow XI members. We also had members/non-members buy the map packs so we can beable to play with one another. Most of us stick to one game until the next release and dont buy multiple games and thats probably why they get the map packs to kep that game fresh til the next major release.
