Phantom Operator i was probably around in the first wave of Ska/Reggae, i was a skinhead in 1969 at the age of 12 carried that through the early 70's until Skins started growing their hair and became known as Bootboys, i don't know if these books will still be available or where you would even get hold of them if they are but check out ( if you can) "Skinhead" "Suedehead" ( Suedeheads were actually called Smoothies where i was from) "Bootboy" all from an author called Richard Allen, they were all from the early 70's it might give you a flavour of the early "Original British skins" Also check out Youtube for videos on early British Skins etc. A couple of old classics for ya "Man in the street" is one of my favourite tracks ever.
