I powered down & reset everything, experimented with having anti-virus on/off, ran a couple diagnostics my brother sent me, and ran a tracert only to find the jumps were double what they should be, across the board. Still pinging in hundreds. If I Jones out & come in to play anyway, just let me know if I'm causing spikes & I'll drop out immediately. Gonna document & send request to ISP (Knology, which until this, has actually been very good) Thanks for the advice on ping, guys... truly appreciated. Us non-techies really appreciate what help we can get.... My brother got me a Radeon 5750 for Xmas . Wow, seems like a REALLY good card so far. I might re-load COD4 & look at Black Ops. Hey guys, I play on your Cod2 servers, looking for some advice on a very recent ping increase problem. For the last couple years, I have usually pinged betwween 40-80 (max) on your Cod2 servers. Consistently. Within the last week or so, my ping (not only your servers, but ALL other servers as well) has doubled to tripled (150+) and makes it nearly un-playable. Asking in-game, no one else has apparently experienced this. I did "Google" it, but I'm not exactly a techie, and the 100,000+ hits were a admittedly a bit confusing... and hoped one of you smarter-than-me types, could give me a little direction as to how to figure out what has caused my ping to jump. I'm DYING to get back to cracking skulls on your servers, but it's not as enjoyable (playable) at high ping. BTW, on my old favorite server (yes, XI is the new one) we asked people over 150 ping to leave, as it caused lag spikes for everyone else...... generally, what is the max ping you want on your servers, in case this isn't easily fixable? Suggestions/ recommendations? Again, this has just happened very recently, and I have added no hardware/software & made no significant changes at all. I run Norton 360 Premium, and nothing is showing as added to registry in the last few months. Just one day for no apparent reason, my favorite gaming/stress relief outlet became unplayable < HELP!!! Hey guys, I've been on the COD2 servers a good bit again recently, thought I'd drop another quick intro, in the unlikely event anyone gives a hoot. I appear @ :17 of the video "> " type="application/x-shockwave-flash">" /> I was on your COD2 DM server a lot about a year ago, but the ol' Commodore 64 finally died last Spring, as did my free time for gaming. But I'm back in the game now. My name is Steve, barely 40, "married w/ children", professional corporate cubicle driver from Knoxville, TN. I have played FPS's a LONG time... countless hours of COD2, first on the UN servers when it came out, and then joined FritzMods server & played there until they axed their 2 server, and have been playing your servers & "others" since. I have COD4 & have played it too, but my old video card didn't do so well. I might load 'er up & try this "freeze tag" thing. The "{420th}" on my in-game screen name is not a "clan tag".... it's actually uh, well... ummm... what can I say. I love to play your DM server..... honestly I prefer CTF to DM, but you have a likable group of guys on the DM server that aren't afraid of microphones - so I play there a lot. The few games I've played on the CTF server has been great, you notice right away who knows how to play CTF.... but you need several people for that. Maybe we could coordinate a CTF night or something. Some of the regs may have noticed I'm a little geeky about bashing. I get bored with run & shoot, so sometimes I'll just do a personal "bash only" round. Makes it more interesting, keeps things moving, and discourages others from window camping. Anywho, thanks for letting me play your servers... I'll abide the rules, play clean, and re-take the bash title I once held. Ferret
