Quite a mouthful, but that’s what the boys are calling it. She’ll use a X58 chipset, and also include some fancy new “ThunderBolt” technology — a new, in-house developed expansion card that integrates Xonar sound, as well as BigFoot’s Killer NPU. According to the specification sheet released by Asus, this latest mobo will be rather similar to last year’s board of almost the exact same name. However, there will be some revisions to the heatsinks which will hopefully make for a much cooler and better performing board overall. There’ll also be the inclusion of four PICe x16 expansion slots which will be capable of supporting four-way CrossFireX (or “QuadFireX”) or three-way SLi (or tri-SLi) for all you extreme gamers out there. You’ll also be able to lump a massive 24GB of RAM in there, with support for speeds of up to 2,200MHz. Pricing and availability is still up in the air, so to speak. Expect more details to be released by Asus soon. ampage III Black Edition pictures I saw at CeBIT, but we could turn it on all sides and closer analysis.. . The first thing that strikes us is the additional card, called the Thunderbolt, which incorporates sound and LAN solution. The audio series is based on existing Xonar sound cards and incorporates a headphone amplifier. Networking is provided by dedicated processor E2100 from Bigfoot Networks Killer. . . Rampage Black Edition III layout has changed from III Rampage Extreme motherboard market presence since last year. Thus, the new Rampage III retains many of the amendments made by Maximus Extreme IV. We identify such corner dedicated to overclocking (OC Zone) which includes the right corner Debug LED, Power button, Reset and Clear CMOS switches for activating and deactivating the PCI-Express slots as well as points of voltages. For those who do not want to use separate network card, and find an onboard network controller from Intel. I note also the daughter-board Bluetooth + WiFi 802.11n located near the rear panel. . . Besides Rampage III Black Edition ASUS booth I could see and new revision 3.0 of the Maximus Extreme IV. This change brings the main use of the new B3 revision of the Intel P67 chipset, but also improvements in terms of overclocking and performance. .
