My wife, and many many others I know are Penn Staters and I am personally a fan of the good things that the Nittany Lions and Joe Paterno did.

Having said that. An example needs to be made: "Your punishment for not doing the right thing is going to be waaaaay worse than what you would have experienced for doing the right thing at the time"

Sad and true, this is a tragedy at multiple levels. As we see now there will be some 'collateral damage' which adds to that tragedy at another much more minor level.

I only hope that if you are against this punishment it's not solely because you are a Penn State/Paterno fan and if you are for it you weren't a previous H8r. I suspect there are a few of those in each camp here.

As I had said, it appears Penn State administrators have learned nothing.

Then again the NCAA is another self serving organization solely concerned about the mighty dollar and not the welfare or academics of the students.

While I condone what the NCAA has done to PSU but it does nothing to change my mind about the self serving motives of the NCAA.

The NCAA is nothing more than a big business whose primary focus is on money, nothing more, nothing less.

But the difference here my friend is the nature of the crime committed and the level of the coverup. There is a moral issue here at the heart of it all that demands satisfaction. Young men were VICTIMIZED in the harshest fashion, and nobody did anything about it...anything at all, until someone with guts enough blew the whistle on em. I wont argue the merits of the NCAA and their motives, all I am arguing is the cause for the victims, because people wanna act like it somehow it is trivial against the needs of the University. Alot of this stuff was allowed to happen ON UNIVERSITY PROPERTY, NOT ONCE...BUT OVER AND OVER AND OVER...AND ALOT OF FOLKS KNEW ABOUT IT! That in and of itself places blame on the University itself by proxy. Now I understand that it is "people" who are responsible, but like any business, if the people in charge fail and are punished, ALL involved either directly or indirectly suffer as well. It is and has always been the way of things, is it not? I do feel badly for the students and the taxpayers. It is a suck deal for all. Maybe Pennsylvania residents would do well to re=establish the school on a strictly academic level, maintain their funding, and allow their children the right to a good education with no abrupt upheaval financially, ah dunno...its complicated past the point my idiot mind can comprehend. To all our Pennsylvani residents in the clan i express honest concern for the tax burden that will be levied on you as a result of this most heinous crimes and the punishment dealt.

Im no hater of Penn state, but my revence for Paterno as one of the greats is gone....GONE!!!!. He allowed his friend to do these unspeakable acts to avoid embarassing himself in his position. His needs became greater than the needs of the victims and he did nothing until it all came out. Way too little, way too late. If it was one of his own sons or grandsons, would he have acted better and quicker? And if "yes" , then in the face of just plain ole decency, why wouldnt he have acted just as quickly for ones suffereing that were not of his own brood? Were their needs or rights lessened in the face of this fact???? Anyone tells me something of this nature and I'm gonna stomp someone...imeediately, family or stranger, it makes no nevermind to me. That is what "decent " folks do...react to this kind of shit IMMEDIATELY!!!!!! They dont weigh the possibilities and personal consequences of action for days, weeks, and months..............
