Yeah I went to the official forums and the patch notes are up. I read the R27 server update and it stated something along the lines of the error of 2nd assault maps crashing when being loaded was addressed. Let's hope the server and client patch helped :)

If I had to guess I would say underpants gnomes. They found out step two involved hijacking gaming servers.....

Do you know what was the cause of the one last night?

 

According to our provider:

 

The permanent connection to EA Blaze is something Dice will address and remove in a future patch as it is causing ways too many issues (every time blaze has an issue or when there is a temporary routing issue to blaze the server crashes).

 

We did move the server to a new physical server box though.  They want to see if its any better on a different piece of hardware.

 

I will try to be on tonight, but PLEASE report back here if there is another crash tonight.

Oh nice.. so basically before there HAD to be an always on connection to EA's backend servers for the frontend servers to work properly. They are going to be getting rid of that soon. should resolve a bunch of the issues since  a lot of the crashes were from EA's backend servers not working.

you got it.  i guess this is an ongoing issue with every provider out there.  they said if it drops for even a second, it forces the server (our server) to restart.  the bugs in this game go beyond what us players even see...

Wow. I work as a network and server admin.. and that is just a terrible design. or if you are going to require a constant connection.. redundancy is your friend.
