I cant come close to Alaskan fishing but I took my son crabbing last weekend. It was pretty fun though.

Exactly. We tie a string to a chicken leg and an 8 ounce sinker. Wait a few minutes and raise it up slowly then scoop it up. We caught over two dozen in about 2 hours but kept 10. Regulations say 50 per day per person. I really don't try to eat them, I make a pasta sauce. I cut them in half, pop off the carapace and rinse them really good. Saute them in a little olive oil and garlic for about 5 minutes then cover them with 2 cans of crushed tomatoes add some fresh basil and a little crushed red pepper for some heat. The crabs make the sauce taste great. Make some spaghetti or linguine, garlic bread. Nice stuff.
