  1. Thanks, I understand how it should work but, for some odd reason, it doesn't. Heck, it doesn't matter too much... There's always the trusty knife to use!
  2. Welcome, >XI< Pyroron! Looking forward to dishing out some payback on the battlefield, soon!
  3. Thanks for the suggestion, Johnny, but this doesn't work. However, regarding the rifle nades, I think I have found the answer thanks to Bradygames' guide to the game. It matters which of the bolt action rifles one selects as the unlock varies between each of them, requiring only 75 kills on the Springfield but 150 on the Type 99 Ariska.
  4. Welcome, Ghost, from another recent arrival - see you on the battlefield...
  5. I am having problems with Custom Classes in CoD5. I set up five custom classes, specifying weapons, nades etc., then, when I log onto the XI DM Custom Maps server, I find the weapons have changed in my classes! Similarly, if I define the classes after playing on the XI server and then play on someone else's server, the classes have reverted back to what they were before the editing. I have to confess I don't know the relationship between the MOD and the Classes. Maybe they are linked?? I also wonder if the automatic "fake promotion" to Level 65 that the XIDMACE MOD causes has something to do with this? It's an oddity I can live with but some weapons I have unlocked (rifle nades for example) are not available to me on XI and some weapons I have not unlocked (e.g. flamethrower) are! Thoughts/ fixes gratefully received...

    ping

There are things your ISP can do to reduce your ping but is it worth it? Ping tests show a figure of 37ms for me locally but I regularly hit 150-160ms on the XI servers - as has been said, it is a matter of distance so you'll have to rely on that superior skill against players who benefit from a lower figure!
  7. Yes, the place does exist and it is in...England! See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitchfield For those seeking a home over here, you could look for a property in this street... And if that doesn't appeal, maybe another part of the country would be more to your taste...
  8. A fleeing Taliban, desperate for water, was plodding through the Afghanistan desert when he saw something far off in the distance. Hoping to find water, he hurried toward the object, only to find a little old Jewish man at a small stand selling ties. The Taliban asked, 'Do you have water?' The Jewish man replied, 'I have no water. Would you like to buy a tie? They are only $5.' The Taliban shouted, 'Idiot! I do not need an over-priced tie. I need water! I should kill you, but I must find water first! 'OK,' said the old Jewish man, 'it does not matter that you do not want to buy a tie and that you hate me. I will show you that I am bigger than that. If you continue over that hill to the east for about two miles, you will find a lovely restaurant. It has all the ice cold water you need. Shalom.' Muttering, the Taliban staggered away over the hill. Several hours later he staggered back, almost dead. 'Your f***ing brother won't let me in without a tie'
  9. I know the topic's a bit old now but anyone else who's searching for the right AV program may find this link of use. Virus Bulletin puts all the major programs to the test on a monthly basis (at least most companies - some don't like others testing and judging their wares!): http://www.virusbtn.com/vb100/archive/results?display=summary NB: Free registration is required to view the results and one can opt to take their AV/malware newsletter. Having tried a few products over the years, I rate AVG and have bought a three-machine licence for the paid version. I found Bullguard - a product that is punted with many vendors' new machines in the UK - resource-hungry and somewhat problematic, personally. McAfee? Well, I vowed never to have any of their software on a machine of mine again! Total reinstallation tends to put one off using their products!!!
  10. Dirtrider >XI<, Welcome to a fellow new member! See you on the battlefield...
  11. Sonovabich Yeah take out all the jungle foliage maps please Nooooooooo! How am I gonna creep up on you with a knife without some cover? DeeJay
  12. Welcome to a fellow new member, Fireurza! See you on the battlefield...
  13. Dear Fellow Idiots, I am delighted, grateful and humbled by the kind acceptance of my application to join your esteemed company! On my application, I spoke of how taken aback I was to encounter such unconditional friendship when I stumbled into the >XI< server seeking a game or two. What I have received is friendship and fellowship that has gone beyond a simple polite welcome and I have been so impressed with the skills that I have witnessed and tried to emulate. Idiots, you are a unique collection of people and I am so honoured to join your ranks! So, a bit more about your latest member... A Londoner by birth, I am 52, retired and now live on the English Channel coast with my wife and son. I am not currently in paid employment but do some voluntary work for a local church including being its webmaster. Why “DEEJAYKEG”? Well, “DJ” are my initials and I don’t have a six pack – who needs a six pack when one can have a keg?! Yes, I like beer! I am a keen fan of English “real ales” and German and Czech pilsners that are brewed using only pure ingredients. There really is an English beer called “Dog’s Bollocks”, by the way! I have family around the globe – New York State USA, Hong Kong, Philippines and Portugal – so that has just grown some! I’ve always been interested in languages. I speak French, some German, a little Russian, Italian and odd words of Cantonese and Japanese. I even studied Tagalog and Bahasa Indonesia a while back. My favourite food is Indian cuisine. Musical tastes have been described by others as “eclectic” – as I date from the 1950s, I really do love the sounds of the Sixties and early Seventies but I surprise even my son with my enjoyment of trance and chill-out anthems and appreciation of modern rock giants Muse! It’s probably easier to say I am not a fan of rap music. I’ve been online for 25 years (****! I’m an ancient b*st*rd!) and playing online games of various sorts for 20. I’ve moved on from from navigating twisty mazes in text adventures to blowing the crap out of tanks (hi tsw!) and trying to out-stealth the knife-stabbers (respect to Dirk and Chile!!! ). I love the Call of Duty series (like the Star Trek films, the second is my favourite). You’ll find me mostly on the CoD5 Custom DM server. Well, my beer glass is almost empty (Berliner Kindl tonight, delightfully!) and I don’t want to be renamed DEEJAYBORE so that’s all you’re getting for now. We’ll surely become better acquainted over the coming months and years and I am on Facebook at www.facebook.com/gardencoaster if you want to chat/ keep in touch (also >XI< group on there). Will post pic(s) in due course for the slideshow. Great to be an Xtreme Idiot! Banzai!!!
  14. Greetings All! DEEJAYKEG reporting for duty! I'm in the UK and have recently rediscovered the joys of multiplayer. (I used to play RTCW a lot via Gamespy but then they altered the site and I could no longer find the servers I frequented.) I'm another "mature" player and guess that's why I have taken to the >XI< CoD WaW Custom Maps crowd - a bunch of friendly people, many of whom are of a similar vintage. Thanks, people, for making me so welcome, and for standing still occasionally so I can shoot ya! I have Battlefield: Bad Company 2 here to install so you may see me around in that game also at some stage. Kind regards to you all.
