Well most of the parts have come in, and all im waiting on now is the ssd and the case so that i can start putting things together. I have already verified ram, cpu, and mobo are working. will test the rest when the case and ssd arrive. also my monitors are mounted. both are 27 inch monitors. the left one is a standard lg, nothing special. the right is a benq 2720z which will go to 144hz!

Quick question, i wont have my ssd right away as the case and the ssd were shipped from another supplier, can i build the rest of the system on the bench, and post the system without the ssd/hdd? just to make sure ram,cpu,mobo are good to go?

Hey guys and gals. I can finally come out of hiding! I bought the parts today for my new build. Its been a long time thats for sure. Heres the parts I bought Corsair 860 PSU Intel 4790k 2tb WD black HDD asus maximus XII formula 16 gb corsair vengance pro 1866 GTX 980 Superclocked 8.1 pro h105 cooler 1 samsung 840 256gb ssd 750d by corsair got some fans and 2 led light strips also. got 2 free games also from the deal. from what ive read and seen this system will show some good performance. i will be getting watch dogs from buying the mobo, and far cry 4 from buying the gpu. also ive read the haswell refresh cpus have better contact between the die and the top plate to give better cooling numbers. the stuff will be here next week i hope. will post pics when done! its guna feel good to have a pc worth a dam again.

thats a good point on the psu. i will in the future upgrade to a sli config. so i need to look at a high wattage psu. and the ram is 1866 which is okay with the mobo. im looking to run 1 gtx980 for now then add another when the prices come down. g skill seems to have the best reviews and the best prices. glad to hear they are good.

i know the case is expensive, but im sorta dead set on getting it. as of right now the money is of no issue. and id like to reuse this case for builds to come. i like hows it filtered all the way around and the styling. and i like big cases. gives me room to mess around with, so much room for activities. the processor is the refresh on haswell, which is a 4790k i do have 16 gigs of ram on the list. what are your guys thoughts on g skill?

see i love steam, i like hows it is set up, and ive never had a problem wit it and never got the game in unava or steam is busy error. i do agree with you on paying for map packs, i dont like buying a 60 dollar game and a fews months time shelling out 30 bucks to 2 packs. and for mod tools and shit, they need to release, sooner or later they will listen to the pc gamers and give it out.

he has passed away today, i realize that there are parties on both sides of the fence about windows and macintosh. he has been battling cancer for a while now, and he is arguably the most important person in modern technology, it is a shame, but he will live on in Apple. my thoughts are in his family and friends prayers

uhm the web interface of finding servers, why cant it just be in game like every other fucking game. its fun and all but seriously? it just makes it a fucking hassle for me, i dont wanna sit and look at a webpage that has no meaning to me, at least they need to make it an option to use it that way cuse i will never use the fucking shit they have, even back to bf2 i never used any stats menu i just wanted to play, also i hate how when i try to rage quit, and i decide to quit, when i go to quit i have to redo what i did because when i repsawn all the menus close, i like the game i just hate how they have to make something like this, i will get the game because i love battleifled but seriously what the fuck

hey folks, this is referring to September 11th 2001, and the horible tragedy that we all know as 911. my question is to you, where were you? i was with my bestfriend at the good ol age of 9, just got done outside with a few other friends and we went inside for a snack, and when we came in his parents looked very toubbled as they watched the tv. at the time my parents were accros the country in san francisco at an IBEW confrence, which took them 3 days to get home due to the airports being shut down. i had to fucking clue what that day would mean, but 10 years down the road i know full well what it means, to me it means we have serious fucked people in this world who are scum bags and i would like to see dead, and it means i have had 3 of my friends go over seas and be there for 15 months at a time, one of which is now dead ( but thankfully the church in our town has helped out their family with anything and everything they need) and helping their parents as they wonder what the fuck their kids are doing and if they are safe, this goes for the entire nation, everyone has known, or been, or knew someone who has been directly effected by this. another note, to those who have served, my hat goes off to you, and i would like to give you a big thank you for doing what you did by serving this nation or any nation at that, its not a common man that serves his or her country, its a hero. i realise this is a day early, but i figured i would get the ball rolling, and get the chat going, so please tell your thoughts, where were you? all i ask is keep it respectful, not a debate over politics, set those aside.

hey all, ive got an older computer with a amd cpu (single core) and about 2.5 gb of ram, ive got some hdd laying around that are ide and a a sata in total about 2.5 tb, ive found a os called freenas bases on unix, wondering if anyone has used it, its got a web based interface when used remotly, thinking about setting up this for home situation for storage, and putting it in raid not sure what one yet, but was wondering if you guys have any expirence with nas, or what you use and why? -sean

i think you deserve the medal. right now for price vs performance i think amd is leading 6 cores for dirt cheap, also overlockable easy, but ive heard amd runs a bit hotter than intel not sure if its certain chips or what, but amd is rockin, my first game pc was amd, it was a since core amd 3400+ i think, infact i still got it

research research research, there is no universal answer for a custom pc, you build what you like and can afford. ofcourse price shopping and reading reviews and such always helps, youtube linustechtips on you tube and look fo the parts and review on there. a monster pc will run around 2500 up, a good one 1500-2500 and a okay one that will need up grading more often will be around 600-1000. if your crunched on cash i would reccomend amd, if not then take your pick between intel, one piece of advice, try to spend about equal cash on your cpu and gpu, because if you get a great cpu and a okay gpu, you will have a big bottleneck in performance, aswell as the other way around. do as much research as you can, look out for deals, and one other thing, get it at once, this way you can tell if you need to rma anything, also its better that way because then you dont get a part and then see that the price dropped a month later and it will take forever if you return a product to save a bit of money. tech always changes, so save up, in the mean time do some serious reseach and i mean a lot, computers arnt cheap, so price vs performace is everything. as for the mouse i personally dont like it, but thats me, just one thing to point out is you asked is there a better one? do your research before purchasing, then you will know the answer, if the mouse fits you, and you like it thats all that matters. i personally use a logitech g500 that i have had for a year and i have no problems at all, razer is also a great company. if you would like to have help researching parts and products give me a pm and ill be glad to help. but like i said if your sinking money into something research it, you wouldnt go out and buy a car on a whim later to find out that its got a failing gas pedal would you? then learn you cant return it after you found this out? lost money equals a very unhappy idiot. just my 2 cents -sean
