The sound card is 5.1 and I have a 5.1 surround speaker system. I need something that will also work with my headset and provide the power that it requires to operate at its best and still be able to provide 5.1 for my speakers. Also ASUS has a bad selection and has nothing like what I'm looking for. I'm sure ASUS is good, but I have a feeling ASUS has nothing on Sound Blaster. ASUS has only been in the sound card game since 2008 and people still prefer Sound Blaster over ASUS. The Sound Blasters have been around since 1989 for a reason. To get anything close to the Sound Blaster I picked out, the ASUS equivalent would be http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0AJ3UB7489 If I'm going to spend $250+ on a sound card I would get an HT Omega, but I simply don't need an HT Omega. That's just going over board for music listening and gaming.

Also an amp makes waaaay more of a difference, a DAC just cleans up the signal a bit. But if you use a good amp, it shouldn't be a problem.

That headphone definitely no longer exists

Why do I need an external sound card if I buy a product that is both a DAC / AMP? EDIT: Actually I will probably have to buy the AMP and DAC separately, I don't see any quality AMP/DAC. Schiit has one "Fulla" but no one really likes it.

yeah you are right the magni 2 would be perfect for what I'm going for. I won't be finalizing my purchase until June so feel free to keep suggesting choices.

I feel the Astro 50 is over priced. For that price I should get a professional studio headset instead.

I don't play games for the weapon mods and weapon customization and all the fancy technology. I play games that have fun gameplay. The game could have 2 weapons to choose from and no customization what so ever, but if the gameplay is solid I will be having too much fun to realize the lack of customization. Are you all forgetting how popular Counter-Strike is? Only 5 weapons have optics no weapon customization. People still love it. Just because people play and like battlefield doesn't mean they don't like Counter-Strike due to the lack of technology, optics, weapon customization, and vehicles. If the gameplay in BF 1 is solid people will love it.
