  1. I use a Westbend Poppery for roasting...got a 2nd for backup...got 'em on E-bay You want the 1500 Watt version...you can find this stamped on the base of the unit. Shouldn't have to pay more than around $50.00 for one...they're very well built.... https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2386202.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS0&_nkw=West+Bend+Poppery+Popcorn+Popper+1500+Watt+&_sacat=0 I use a Capresso conical burr grinder... the grinder is VERY IMPORTANT....you can have the best beans....use a crappy grinder...& you'll get below average brew @ best. https://www.amazon.com/Capresso-Infinity-Stainless-Conical-Grinder/dp/B00FZ1LYJA/ref=as_at?creativeASIN=B00FZ1LYJA&imprToken=zOJP-j8KbFVcIVSz4zuksg&slotNum=8&s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1492818299&sr=1-12&keywords=capresso+infinity&linkCode=sl1&tag=hg-burrv-20&linkId=f0ae575cb2c9fd66421359a6304b42f7 Here's a good article on roasting....rather straightforward: https://ineedcoffee.com/roast-your-own-coffee/ If you have any questions, just holler @ me.
  2. My kinda guy! Now give the man a BIG FAT Brownie! Preferably some White Widow or Peacemaker....heck, even Skunk #1....you wanna really send him.....Northern Lights! He looks more like a Blueberry kinda guy tho...
  3. Bro...you join one of the clubs and split the cost of a bag when it's in-season...the price is comparable to store-bought....all you gotta do is take the time & a little patience to roast and grind it.....The quality of coffee you will get will be orders of magnitude beyond what you are familiar with...
  4. Nice! A cafe in your basement. Access to the local roasters is great....they can give you advice on what the ramping temperatures they like to use for different coffees....I use an air-pop popcorn machine and thermometer to monitor the roast temps....toggle it off & on when I want the the coffee to sit at a certain temp. to develop flavors, then leave it on again when ready to continue.....before that I simply used my oven. =) Just gotta be sure the temp don't drop when pausing the ramp or it results in a less than optimal roast. Gonna give the aeropress a try to bring out the cleaner notes! I use a conical-burr grinder for an adjustable grind. Roasting can be a fun hobby....especially when the beans you like are in-season.....Sweet Marias is another site for small batch purchases....
