  1. It's a proprietary Dell with a small PS and not not really expandable. You can do better for the money if you look around I think. The motherboard can't be changed with anything but a Dell. The front IO ports are built on the board so the case can't be change with out losing them. No USB 3.0 header to allow you to plug in a front usb cable if you did find a case that it would fit into. Proprietary cpu cooler, and ps so no upgrade or swap there. About all you could expand is ram and hd's. Not something I would think about buying. Review of XPS Desktop
  2. Good stuff. Now if we could only get a new Windows 11.1
  3. Built my friends box with a PCI 4.0 on a X570 mobo and transfer rates, load times are damn fast. He accused me of building him a "gaming" pc. He's not a gamer, but said to make it fast....
  4. Maybe an Idiot ,but not stupid....
  5. fbi open up, he really didn't get a pre-build. He told me that I has a $2500 limit and build something fast for him. As I couldn't get parts unless I paid scalper prices I went to Cyberpower and started selecting parts. I think he has a Corsair RM1000 ps in the thing, plus a Sabrent SB-RKTQ4-1TB as his boot drive, forget the mobo but it's running a R9 3900x and AIO cooled. He isn't a gamer but does do dome mining so he's got a RTX 3060ti. Forgot to add. It was easier for them to put this thing together and tested than drive the 200 miles round trip to find out that "Houston we have a problem."
  6. Think you missed the part about a fan blowing in the case. It's a small house fan and plenty of air flow. And I do like the hot swap. Just switched it on in my bios, connected the sata cables from the case and was good to go.
  7. Try Amazon and Newegg. In stock at both sites.
  8. I think you will find that all of us here are "XtremeIdiots" Welcome to our house and see you on the servers.
  9. The 115i is 18months years old and is top mounted. Still have the H90 that I used for 4 years as a backup. As for the case, I haven't put the side on my cases in 15 years or so. Also have a little fan blowing in on the VRM's, so np with airflow. Haven't had a "windowed" case to see the RGB stuff, but the real reason is that I'm was always testing out HD's that crashed on friends systems. Got a HOTSWAP slot on my case now to check out the sata stuff, which makes it easy these days.
  10. Had a friend a few months back and we got one over at CyberPowerPC. R9 3900, AIO 240 cooler with one of the upper end AMD GPUs. Lots of ram and fastest 1Tb Nvme drive at the time we could get. Ran about $2100. https://www.cyberpowerpc.com/ Well built and have had no problems with the rig.
  11. So they marked down the R7 5800x and I went for it. Figured it might be the last cpu upgrade for this MSI X470 mobo..... In 4 minutes, the time it took to swap the cpu, I went to this... from this..... Runs a bit hot under stress test, but my H115i should handle it ok, I think. t
  12. No problems here. Updated 5 machines. 2 desktops and 3 laptops.
  13. Been there... Walked that.... 1978......
  14. Flew General Powell once when I was in support of the Hurricane Andrew relief back in 1992. Busy man, but took time to briefly to talk to us, the crew, and ask how things were going. Best General we have had in a long time. RIP Sir.
  15. Forgot all about that SSD and chkdsk thing... Like KaptCrunch says, just don't do it.
  16. Loader try running it as "C:\WINDOWS\system32>chkdsk /r" It will check the entire drive for bad sectors. If you have more than 1 drive you night have to do this for all of them but probably not.
  17. Since it's a NTSF failure, you might want to run chkdsk /f from the CMD prompt to check for errors. Will take a while if it's a large drive.
  18. So went and played a bit on FT1... not good. Frame rate was jumping from 35 to 500+. Tried some adjustments but nothing worked.... Good thing is that it only took 5 minutes to roll back to Win 10. So seems that Win 11 is just a lipstick upgrade for Win 10... and not a good shade right now if you ask me.
  19. Welcome to the Jungle, George....
  20. Shoved in Win 11 (Pro version) on my AMD 2700x on a MSI x470 Gaming Carbon Pro rig and will see how it goes. When I did the beta a bit back COD4 played like crap, laggy and skipping frames. Had to uninstall the MSI Dragon program to get it to install. Still don't like the new taskbar nor the look of the Start button when opened. Also the Start button has quit working 6 or 8 times and have to restart Windows Explorer to get it to work again. Tried to use the Reg hack to return to the Win 10 Start look when opening up Start, but that was a no go. Worked in the beta but MS has killed that in the release version. Haven't done any benchmarks stuff yet but will soon as I also read about the performance drop with AMD CPU's. Using a local logon so widgets don't work unless I go with MS logon. Will test out COD4 on out FT1 server and see how that goes, but unless you really like rounded corners on things, there isn't much reason to upgrade. I don't use MS Teams, there is a cut down version of a online MS Office with it. Extremely limited control of my RTX 2070 in the display settings. My home network is still screwed as there is a master browser problem and my other systems can't see this one. So a bit more testing before I decide to roll back to win 10 or not. But all my programs seem to work.
  21. Try updating the Realtek drivers and see what happens. May have to get them from Realtek's site.
  22. Well before I start playing around with Win 11, I'm making a diskimg of my Win 10 just in case things don't work too well. The beta Win 11 didn't like COD4 but that could have been just a driver problem. Was dropping frames like I had a 500 ping back in the day of dial up.
  23. I'm 69 years old and my wife still says "Just when are you going to grow up!'
