Thanks, @HarryWeezer. The solution would be to 1) get NFO to drop their disk space constraints, or 2) switch to a game server hosting company that doesn't have disk space constraints. This is the first game server hosting company we've been with (to my knowledge) that has ever imposed a disk space quota on us. Why we are staying with them is above my pay grade. But that said, you may recall a few of the server hosts we've had in the past that were pretty shitty, so there's that. I guess it is what it is.

The maps are all consistent as of the time they were put in rotation. There is another post on why COD5 rotations are on hold. Probably an issue with the host if resetting the server fixed the problem.

I think it's about time we address this elephant in the room. Q: Why haven't the rotations on the COD5 DM2 server changed lately? A: The redirect server is not permitting FTP access is why? Q: WTF is a "Redirect server"? A: It's the server that dishes up maps to players who don't have them on their local copy of COD5 so they can play in them. It is a separate server from the actual game server itself. The game server could serve up the map, too, but you wouldn't want that to happen because the map would be long over by the time the game server got through sending it to you. The Redirect server is mad-fast at sending maps to you. Thing is, the map files on the Redirect server have to be in sync with (exactly match) the map files on the game servers otherwise bad things happen. Servers crash and go boom and shit like that. Q: So what? Aren't they already in sync? A: Nope. Q: Why TF not??? A: Because the game server hosting company will only allow us to have so many maps on the server at a time. So that means that weekly (or however often a Server Admin decises to change a set of maps) we have to go in and copy a bunch of map folders (the new rotation set) from the redirect over to the game server, change the server map rotation configuration to start using the new maps, then delete all the last rotation's maps off the game server. Since we cannot gain FTP access to the Redirect server at this time, there is no way for us to copy a new rotation's set of map folders over to the game server. Q: Can't you work around this some way? A: Possibly, like using my local copies of the maps here on my computer, but it is more prone to error, and not something I would recommend to Server Admins. To my knowledge, most admins are copying down from the Redirect to their local computer and then copying up to the game server. An easier, more direct method is to use "Beyond Compare", a program that allows copying directly from one FTP server to another. Q: Dude! Why don't you bite the bullet and use the workaround? A: I didn't think it would take over two weeks to fix this! But XI EU-fest and apparently a crisis in another game has taken priority. At this point, I'm hopeful we can fix the situation sooner than later. The longer this takes, the closer we are to a solution, right? Today? Tomorrow? Gotta be soon, right? Sorry for the delay.

@J3st3rXI - Hmmm. Sounds like a donation to the high school machine shop might be the best option here. I'll list it for $40 and see if it moves, but it sounds like I better not get my hopes up. Not sure I would have room for a new one if I don't get rid of this one first. Space is that tight in my garage. I really need a shed, but that's another $2k or so. Sadly, I'm not that rich. I guess I''d need to win the lottery first just to pay for the fuel/electric, though. @J3st3rXI - Here are pics of my aging and ailing Ariens. It's a 20" with a 5HP Tecumseh, pull-start engine. It starts hard. Like I'm talking pull the damn starter a bazillion times, and then it might start. I let the local high school shop class give it their best shot. They lost the governor linkage for the carb, so I had to fashion one from a paperclip. It now runs too lean and fast - when I can get it started, that is. I think it could use new carb, but like you say, parts are apparently non existent after a few years, and this one was built back in the 80s. The drive clutch could use adjustment as it feels like it's engaged all the time. It's pretty hard to push as a result. One of the tires (inflatable) has a slow leak, but just fast enough to where you need to pump it up before each use. What do you think I should reasonably ask for it when I put it up for sale? I need it out of here so I'll have space for a new one, so I want it to move quick.

Not a lick of difference in COD5, but I just upgraded to a 1080Ti and it's had a somewhat satisfying effect on X-Plane 11. If COD5 is all you play, then even your 970 is overkill. I think I started on a 550 I think it was and it was running all sliders to the right without it breaking a sweat. This game is not that hard on a GPU.

Hey @spinpuppy - Calling Mr. Home Depot... My old Ariens snowblower is on its last legs. What does Home Depot got these days that I might want to get as a replacement? And is this a good time to buy, or are there better times of the year to buy one of these seasonal bad boys? My current snowblower is a two-stage with a 5.5hp engine (I think it is) and an auger of about 21" - 24". No attachments or lights or any fancy frills like that, not even an electric start. Although that sure would be nice since a lot of snowblowing happens in the dark, and yanking that goddam pull starter gets old real quick! Thanks for your expert assistance. And, btw, the Toro Personal Pace lawnmower you recommended rocks!

Hi Beers. II put the new rotation in last night, but I noticed it was playing airfield before I went in to let the guys playing know it would be available after a restart. Deaddawn let me know that he's seen the server sporadically restart over the past couple of days. Not a lot, but not normal either. I'll follow up with rugger on this. Doesn't appear to be related to the new rotation though. Whew.

Hello COD5 DM2 Fans !!! Beers is stepping down from his role as Head Admin and DM2 Server Admin. He and the ms are planning on some travel, no doubt to some exotic places. Newark, NJ comes to mind. Kidding aside, Beers has been a foundational member of the COD5 team, and in all capacities he has served, he will be sorely missed. Thank you Beers for your contributions to this clan at all levels. You have always brought great credit upon yourself and the Xtreme Idiots. Thankfully, between travels, he'll still be a regular member of the clan and we can (hopefully) still call on him for advice when needed. And still kill him a lot in the game. Now, for the rest of you lot, looks like you'll be stuck with me as the DM2 Server Admin for the foreseeable future. I can hear the wailing and gnashing of teeth already. Being retired and all, Beers had the luxury of doing rotations for servers whenever he saw fit. Apparently that usually meant Thursdays. I, on the other hand, am still a working stiff, and so the rotation changes will have to slip to the weekends. Current thought is Saturday morning. You're all watching cartoons then anyway, right?
