  1. @@JohnnyDos The NHL site shows Detroit in the East, Of the Original Six only Chicago is in the West. My link shows Detroit in Division C. It is from the NHL web site, hopefully it is accurate. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=660138 Scroll down the page and the divisions are shown
  2. For those who read this but do not know hockey I just want to comment on one of the traditions, it's an awesome one. Each player gets to have The Cup for a day, it's their choice on how they share it with others of their choosing. The Stanley Cup has seen a lot of travel time by being with each individual player possibly in their home town. Also remember there is only one Stanley Cup, Other sports make new championship trophies each season, not hockey. WIkipedia has a nice article on The Cup: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traditions_and_anecdotes_associated_with_the_Stanley_Cup
  3. Oh well, the better team won. Kudo's to the Blackhawks, they certainly earned it. A great Cup final. I thought sure we were going to a game 7 but Chicago just would not roll over and die. Great effort by both teams.
  4. I don't think Edd knows how to play this game..... Apparently very few who propagate XI have a clue.

Tried it, did not like it, not user friendly IMHO. Put old version back which is found hidden at the bottom of their page.
  6. @@JohnnyDos As Johnny has previously noted the final is Original Six hockey. What might also be worth noting it may be a long time for another Original Six Stanly Cup Final unless all the stars align just right. In the new alignment the only Original Six team in the West will be Chicago. The remaining 5 will be in the East. The odds for another Original Six final have been greatly diminished by realignment. Chicago will have to win the west and then one of the other Original Six will have to come out of the East.
  7. You are not alone. They were the closest thing I had to a "home" team since the Flyers were a playoff no show.
  8. Nice, best of luck even if it is Japanese. UAW Local 813 Retired.
  9. If Toews steps on the ice I hope they pound him some more. It's playoff hockey and the hits keep coming. Besides, IMHO, Bostons main hope lies in pounding the Blackhawks into submission................and the refs allowing it to happen.
  10. Wow! Both Bergeron and Toews possibly out. Seems Toews will again play and was kept out as a precaution by his coach. Bergeron was sent to the hospital, have not heard his fate. Teams, and fans, will be hurt by the loss of either one.
  11. Ugh.

  13. Moral of the story............Don't Mess with Mother Nature! Flooding seems to be the weather news almost world wide.
  14. Is there anything in the major sports like playoff hockey? I think not.
  15. Wow! 6-5 and in OT again! Certainly not what I had expected. My Bruins in 6 is looking doubtful. Chicago is apparently not as beat to dead as I thought. So different having a 6-5 score fest after all the previous defensive games. Great hockey, very entertaining even for those of us whose horse is not in the hunt.

  17. It was, the Flyers won 2-0 but had to play because fans had bought tickets.
  18. The good old days with the Flyers!
  19. In the Flyers days of supremacy and entertainment value as The Broad Street Bullies it was Kate Smith singing God Bless America. She brought the house down when she appeared live in the finals. At the time I was a season ticket holder, I know I shed a few tears as she sang rest assured I was not alone. http://www.flyershistory.com/cgi-bin/kate.cgi
  20. Expecting a good intense game tonight, Chicago knows they need to step it up to stay with Boston. Seems Boston can play hard fairly consistently and Chicago tends to relax until it's too late. They cannot afford to relax tonight. If Chicago loses, stick a fork in them, they will be done.
  21. Rask is one hot goalie. Crawford is also playing good but is not getting the offensive support he needs to win. Chicago did not look to good in this one, they did not start to play until the last 1:30 of the third period. I stay with Bruins in 6.
  22. As much as I like the series and root for Boston I cannot stand Rene Rancourt's caterwalling. He is simply god awful in singing the national anthem. It's time for Rene to head off into the sunset and retire gracefully. He sounds like an old scratchy 78 RPM record. Only good thing I can say he keeps it traditional instead of personalizing it like so many others.
  23. Let us not forget that gun ownership and abilty to use them was a significant factor in gaining our independence. Oh yea, France helped a wee bit too. And that England had more irons in the fire than they could handle or afford. We were most fortunate, the time was right or we would still be speaking proper English. Sort of amazing considering the past that we are such close allies.
  24. You poor lost soul.
  25. What makes the most difference is the headset. Get a good, comfortable, stereo headset with surround sound. It makes a whole lot of difference. I happen to use a Logitech G 35. Lots of other choices out there. http://gaming.logitech.com/en-us/product/g35-7-1-surround-sound-gaming-headset
