  3. Looks like something they used in the Philippines, no, not MacArthur, he was always hiding in his dugout sacrificing others and coming out only when the press arrived.
  4. One of the other activities we did was Hartley's Helmet dive. They take you out into the reefs, the water being no more the 10 Ft. Then a helmet is put on your head with air pumping in and down the ladder you go onto the reef. The guide, Greg Hartley, is well equipped with visuals to identify the fish that come around you. I have no doubt the fish are used to him and hang around for handouts he provides. A awesome experience.
  5. There is something to be said for telling the person you love them and they can go. It's like it allows them to depart with peace of mind and soul. I had never thought this to be true until the passing of my Mother, it was like she just needed to be told so she could go peacefully away. Your experience brought back memories and now I wish you all the best in representing your Dad's values as you go through life. Make him proud.
  6. An interesting historical story on the Toronto Maple Leafs and their owner, Harold Ballard. A little bit of hockey history I never knew about. A truly old school owner. http://hockey-blog-in-canada.blogspot.com/2011/08/where-shirts-have-no-names.html
  7. Busting chops is normal and expected behavior amongst friends.
  8. From Dolphin Quest in Bermuda:
  9. Agreed, I moved from FT to FF when I was having computer issues. I would crash and then reboot and might come back on the other team. I got tired of trying to explain that I did not switch teams and that I auto assigned on a reboot.
  10. Hey, I did make some forum posts, just no gaming.
  11. I have been absent from the servers for a few weeks but all for reasonably good reasons on my end. Three weeks of vacations with various family members were the highlight. For one week I took my family on a cruise to Bermuda, a great vacation. The other two weeks I was the invited guest first with my daughter's family and then with my youngest son's family. All of which were great times for building memories. My computer time was practically nil and gaming time was nil. I have to admit that at sometimes like these the loss of my wife over two years ago can still hit hard at unexpected times. Hopefully I did not embarrass myself. Because of the vacations and my being somewhat out of contact with customers I also spent an abnormal amount of time between vacations on business visits focusing on primary customers. Sometimes that kind of trip adds miles and is less efficient than regularly scheduled stops. All in the family time was something I will treasure. I am a very lucky man to have such a family. I'll post a couple of pics from Bermuda if I ever put any on Photobucket. Now to spend sometime getting my yard work for two houses in order. Trust me, I am not complaining, I am most fortunate.
  12. I do not know much about name training other that repeatability with a small reward. What I do know is that I admire you for caring and taking time to give this dog a better life. You are to be commended. In fact you should get some kind of medal to add to your collection for something like community service.
  13. Only persons who own pets can come even close appreciating how deep the loss is when one is gone. My heart goes out to you.
  14. I am so sorry, it's more than any person should have to bear.
  15. On my bucket list to visit Switzerland. One of my regrets from when I was stationed in France was that I never took time to see The Alps.
  16. I don't think anyone has said it would be easy for either of you yet both of you seem to be coping as well as can be expected. It is an indeed an emotional time for the whole family, a test if you will. All of you seem to be passing. Hang in their and appreciate moments as when your dad said you were his favorite. That is a moment to be cherished. It is unfortunate that many of us, myself very much included, do not express the love we have for family until a we have crisis or it is too late. Take care and best wishes to all.
  17. I think you have been given a gift of unqualified love at a time you were both in need.
  18. Wow, he got younger. Must have been that polluted Detroit river water.
  19. Seems she may have just found you for a reason? As some on here may know I am not very religious. But I do believe in fate. ( "the inevitable fortune that befalls a person or thing; destiny" ) Somehow this just seems like fate, it was meant to be. Whatever the outcome I know you will do what is best for her.
  20. Not that soon - he is third in line! Who knows how long it will take? British monarchs tend to hang on until death does them part. If I am not mistaken Edward VIII was the only one I know who abdicated the throne. In every other case the successor just had to wait until the one on the throne passed on. Heck Queen Elizabeth II might even outlast Prince Charles. She has staying power and good genes.
  21. Good job Kate! Congratulations to all who have anticipated this moment. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23413653 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25zynTTl-sU

  23. L_O_M is right, it is pain. But take comfort in the joy you provided to each other. I also encourage you to welcome another dog into your family. Not to replace the one you lost, that cannot be done, but to earn their own place in you heart. Even at almost 70 I just cannot envision a life not shared with a dog by my side.
