Send a few of them to my polling location. As a continuing comment my next door neighbors went to vote in the evening and, unsolicited, commented to me on how long it took to get through the line to cast their vote. I was lucky, when I went there was no line and I got processed immediately, it just took awhile to get it done.

Interesting Observation Regarding Ping During Game Play
Shamu replied to little_old_man's topic in General Discussion
It's just the routing, sort of like driving your car and taking the fastest route or scenic route except you ain't driving the car. -
The alternative to getting old is much worse. Gotta love Toby Keith and another fun song I suspect most of you have heard: Damn I hate the lead in ads.

, it is all part of growing up. In reality you manned up and told them to do their own work, Good for you.

Jeez Cobra where do I start? I am not even sure what you are talking about. Lets see, first off my post is NOT POLITICAL, it is about how people perform at their job. It just happened to be at a polling location. Absolutely nothing political about my post. How you managed to classify that as Political is beyond me. Unless by another post adding "Vote" that offends your political sensibilities? Hardly can be called political. And lastly can you show me where the Political Forum is that I am supposed to post in if I were to make a political post? Or did you perhaps forgot that is not an option for non-members? As far as I can tell there was no reason to shout "ONLY!!" at those of us who posted.

All credit to the poll workers for taking time out of their day to manage the polling sites and to try and help things to move along smoothly. But........and understand I claim senior citizen prerogative to make this observation without bias since I am one myself.......... Most of the workers at my polling location this morning need to remain in their nursing homes. Mass confusion over simple matters, blaming each other over the confusion, an embarrassing example of senior citizens performing a civic duty. From the time I walked in until I cast my vote their was confusion. On exiting the booth the Judge of Election even came over to me and apologized for the mass confusion and disarray. I again exercised my non-discriminatory right as a senior citizen since I am one myself and told the judge these people are trying their best but it's time for them to retire, they were quite simply incompetent to function on the level required which was really rather basic. By far my worst experience ever with these over the hill workers. Rant over, TG we do not have to vote too often.

Many thanks for all the BD wishes! They are appreciated. Had a great day, in lieu of gaming my family took me out to dinner. Had a few beverages of choice and a real nice prime rib main course. At my age getting together with the family like that far out weighs any gifts. Again, thanks for all the good wishes.

You are right and I was lucky.

Are you kidding me?!? Seriously, bro? I'm...speechless. Referencing my area which had all alarm bells going but the biggest hit was temporary power loss and internet loss. Not anywhere near what local officials had anticipated. A local area along the river that floods frequently barely got their feet wet. I also understand, correct me if I am wrong, that the storm was in "bands" and perhaps we missed the worst. There was some tree damage from wind but pretty much nothing from flooding. I think a lot of the tree damage was because of Mondays all day rain. When the winds hit the ground was already soft and wet, not a good thing at all. I also suspect your impression of the storm is tempered by the unusual atmospheric circumstances coming together to make it unique and a weatherman's dream story. But then again better safe than sorry.

Cavey; You can stretch and manipulate my comments as you wish to suit your fancy much like a politician. But don't imply I am talking about monsoons, tornado alley or landslides when I made no such reference. And I also certainly did not wish it upon them in any post I made as you seem to imply in your last sentence. I qualified my posts to specific areas and stand by what I said, For beach front homes the buyer knowingly assumes a much higher amount of risk upon purchase. To me when you accept that SPECIFIC risk you are less deserving of sympathy when something totally possible happens. The Barrier Islands are an entity entirely to themselves. Their descriptive name alone provides a warning. Try not to put words in my mouth for me, I can usually do that well enough myself. You might also note I admitted to being insensitive so what is your point without altering the context of my posts?

To say Sandy was a bit over hyped is an understatement.
-
Downgraded to a tropical storm. Pretty much just a wet fart here near Philly.
-
So far just north of Philly Sandy is less than anticipated. But what can you expect from the media. They will make big news out of it just to panic people. At least it is knocking most of the leaves off the trees. One good clean-up and the leaves will be gone. Granted it is just about now making landfall near Cape May, NJ so it can still get much worse.

You know you are too old to Trick or Treat when: 10. You get winded from knocking on the door. 9. You have to have another kid chew the candy for you. 8. You ask for high fiber candy only. 7. When someone drops a candy bar in your bag you lose your balance and fall over. 6. People say: 'Great Boris Karloff Mask…….and you're not wearing a mask. 5. When the door opens you yell, 'Trick or.....and can't remember the rest. 4. By the end of the night you have a bag full of restraining orders. 3. You have to carefully choose a costume that won't dislodge your hairpiece. 2. You're the only Power Ranger in the neighborhood with a walker. And the number one reason Seniors should not go Trick Or Treating... 1. You keep having to go home to pee. No matter, have a HAPPY HALLOWEEN anyway. Don’t let ”Sandy” ruin it.

Ah Boomer, don't get me started on the seals. I have a passionate dislike for the clubbing to death of baby seals that takes place strictly for their pelts. In fact I think I will make a donation to the site linked below. http://www.humanesociety.org/issues/seal_hunt/

Blackwidow might take note that I qualified my posts to beach front homes where the owners knew the risk for storm damage upon purchase. If a person chooses to have a beach front home they also know an element of risk comes with it. They made a calculated decision and when the tide turns against them it is simply the cost of doing business. A risk they chose to accept. Barrier Islands are inherently dangerous and the wise owner makes sure he is well insured. The owners made their choice of their own free will. So if a storm wipes out their house I have very little sympathy. And for residents who do not heed evacuation orders, which might even account for some of the dead I also have little or no sympathy. In fact I have a touch of dislike for them because when they get in trouble our First Responders have to put their lives at risk trying to save them from their own stupidity. Just understand my posts were qualified to target toward people who have made a conscious decision to accept the risk with property location or their own lives, not the general population. But if they do not have insurance and sump pumps well................................... you know what I mean.

I will wait a bit before deciding. Too often I have pre-ordered or bought early and never even installed the game. It has been my experience that being first in is not always a good choice.

I don't have issues with wealthy people, in fact I admire them and strive to be one of them myself. Still working on that but of course "rich" is subjective and varies from different points of view. What I do admit to is being insensitive to others misfortune in, not all, but many cases. Too often people are victims of their own stupidity or fail to protect themselves like uninsured motorists or smokers. Call it a psychological flaw in my make up but it is very true that I am insensitive to many things that might find sympathy with others. Understand this is not true in all cases but applies in most instances where some common sense or responsible behavior could have helped them in one way or another. Going to an opposite extreme I tend to be overly sensitive, to the point of upsetting myself, when I hear of problems relative to children or animals in my own country. They need our protection, adults not as much.
-
As for their lives shame on them if they have not left as all have been advised to do. It's sort of like where their houses are, many knew the risk and possible consequences. It's also the same with their lives, they all have been advised to leave, they know the risk if they made the choice to stay so sympathy is not deserved. Maybe an XI Stupid Medal might be warranted.

Not saying things won't be bad bad as usual the weather news media takes advantage of any exposure they can get. Instead of just reporting the news / facts they have to make a drama event out of it to feed their own egos and get extended face time on TV. I am north of Philly and expect to lose power and little else. That is no big deal. As for our illustrious citizens with their beach front homes I won't shed a tear if their house are sucked out into the ocean and wind up in Europe months later. Too many of these homes are built where they have no business being. To top it off anyone with beach front assumes a certain amount of risk going in. When you assume the risk be willing to pay the price. Actually I am well pleased for the rain, will be welcomed for all the shrubbery and new grass I have planted. Bring it on Mother Nature, let it rain!

Just having some fun stirring the pot since a post had been made. The Devil made me do it.
