  1. Good one Gorilla, Holly was a trend setting genius in his use of musical composition in support of his vocals and lyrics. A man who died too soon.
  2. Then you should stsrt out with the real roots of Rock & Roll; Uno mas: And what is Rock and Roll with the old Elvis Presley, The TV show caused a TV scandal because of the show allowed Elvis to be shown waist down which many critics thought to be indecent; Now THAT, my friends, is Rock and Roll............... pure simple and original.
  3. Hagar43 I will be there 9/12 but probably accompanied by my boss on this visit. I do get to TX every 6-7 weeks. BTW.......Dallas Sucks
  4. I will be there 9/12 butprobably accompanied by my boss. Ido get to TX every 6-7 weeks.
  5. One of my favotite songs by Don McLean that truly has become classic. Much debate over the meanings DM put into the song. Most simply associate it with the deaths of Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper and Richie Valens. Much more to it than just that. Below is the best link that breaks down the meanings in this complex song: http://understandingamericanpie.com/index.htm Boring topic to some, possibly intereting to others. Hmmm, posted link using Ctrl V but does not seem to be working?????? Back to cut and paste if it interests you
  6. I have often enjoyed various "pranks", this one is rather good. Were that me in the house I would have exited right and left the girl to fend for herself.
  7. Just want to say I admire the perserverance of the European gamers who visit and join XI. I whine and complain if my ping goes over 100. I tested for Chicago because I think someone said that is where the Nam server is.
  8. Not much detail but the new MOH is making some waves. http://www.aolnews.com/surge-desk/article/electronic-arts-defends-taliban-mode-in-new-medal-of-honor-video-game/19606491 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/08/23/uk-official-decries-video_n_691003.html Have not given it much thought but I don't think it matters. Some of us already do not hesitate to game as JApanese or Germans and they did not exactlty distinguish themselves with moral values during WW II. In fact I have never given any thought as to which side I played. Auto-select is the key. And what the heck, gives some of us an opportunity to shoot the buggers ourselves.
  9. The holster is NOT worth more than the gun, no way. Even with the reconditioning I suspect the value of the gun could approach or exceed $3,000.00. http://www.gunbroker.com/ Enter Luger in Search and look at the listings. I tried linking direct to the page but it expires in this type format. That gunsmith might be setting you up for his own interests. I did not look at anything in detail but I think your gun has very good value. I also know very little about Lugers, where they were manufactured also effects value. The WW II Lugers having Nazi symbols also impacts value. I do know I would like to get one someday.
  10. Drooling over the Luger, would like to get a original wartime vintage Luger someday.
  11. Thanks for the info Hagar - that's cool our first pistols were the same. I didn't know there were any safety issues and haven't shot my big toe off yet so I'm leaving it just the way it is. The safety issue is very minor and, IMHO, overkill. The safety mod is so you can carry the gun with all cylinders loaded and not worry about it firing if you drop or bang it in some way. With revolvers it is a good practice to leave one chamber empty and carry the gun with the hammer located over the empty cylinder. If you drop or bang it there is no bullet under the hammer to go off accidentally. Only drawback is you have one less round in your cylinder. For most the safety outweighs one less round, particularly if it is not carried for self defense. I believe almost all new revolvers have incorporated some type of safety system so they can be safely carried with all cylinders loaded. But I am old school, all my revolvers including those for self defense are carried with the hammer on an empty chamber.

Not to change the subject but thought this might interest some of you..... The Knights of Columbus here is having a raffle and I can't see anywhere that you have to live in Wyoming to enter. It's a "Gun a Week" raffle, they draw for a different gun every week for 52 weeks and the tickets are 50 bucks. Here's a link with the list of guns and a way to enter if you're interested. PRIZE LIST APPLICATION Shame they don't set it up so that you could purchase via the Internet and pay via Paypal or CC. Can't tell you the last time I paid for anyhting via US Postal.
  13. That sucks, if true they are generalizing every vet just because they might feel stressed? Heck, in this economy most of us are stressed, vet or not. But if a Vet gets stressed he loses his right to carry. So far I have not used any Veterans benefits so I have not encountered this matter........... luckily.
  14. PT-Bama I don't see a vid?!?! It's there, may need Quicktime.............. I had to download it myself after Rick fixed it for me.
  15. RickJames I fixed it for you so enjoy Thanks..........I had no clue at all. No more videos from me............LOL.
  16. I give up. I am a actual real life idiot. Can't figure out how to post a video. I do have it in a Photobucket album. All I get here is a symbol for a broken link or some Apple plug in crap which does nothing. Add to me being computer illiterate and you know why I screw up.
  17. Belle Nice inventories !! drooooool drooooool My first gun was this old 22 and it's still a blast to shoot That "first gun ever" is the Ruger Single Six, in the red bag is a cylinder for shooting the .22 magnum rimfire. It was also my first pistol. A little history, it had some questionable safety issues and Ruger offered free alterations. I sent mine in and had the transfer bar work done. Worked like crap. I took out the transfer bar and went back to original configuration. I think all newer models already have the transfer bar installed. It's a small piece of metal that you can see slide up over the firing pin when cocking the hammer. Ruger still offers a free fix if wanted....... I would not. Possibly of interest: http://rugerforum.net/ruger-rimfires/18998-old-model-single-six-transfer-bar-upgrade.html
  18. Verrater And i don't have a picture of quite a few of my firearms but this is my newest acquisition for ccw: It is a good practice to have a photo record of each of your guns even if for insurance purposes only. Should you ever be in a situation where you need to claim a loss haing a photo record can ease the process. I have both photos and an Excel file on all my guns. My Excel sheet is not as it should be because I only have the basic description for each gun. I should have included the purchase date and cost. I am too far behind now to worry about it.
  19. Does anyone in XI run a Yahoo based Fantasy Football League?
  20. Hey Sweat.............you have the bullet and the case coming out of the barrel in your sig............ needs some photo-shopping.
  21. Nice stuff Killroy and certainly well equipped for hunting. I have a few hunting type guns with the laminate type stock and full well realize that the it is the best way to go, far superior to Walnut in so many ways particularly accuracy. But being old school I just can't give up on a nice grained and finished Walnut stock. I just like the look of finished Walnut. Franchi Renaisance Elite 12 Ga.: The following Browning Citori was bought for me by Don Haldeman who won the Gold Medal in trap shooting at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal. Don and I worked together at the Budd Co. and I did some gratis welding work for him. In return he surprised me with the gun as a gift for the work I had done.
  22. Gump Don't use the auto-run,browse cd # 1 and click on the setup.exe from there. After it's installed you'll need the 1.3 patch. Ditto, do not use auto install, open from the CD.
  23. Okay, C&R Pistols: First, two for the British: A Webley Scott Mark IV Another Webley Scott Nickel Plated Mark IV and modified to 45 ACP. Original caliber was .455 but ammo was hard to get so it was modified to accept 45 ACP. Would have higher value if in original caliber as a collector item. This pistol is in real nice condition. Russian Mosin, 1940 Model Czech Makarov, Romanian TTC Tokarov I have not shot the Webley's as yet.
