I think the world must move on and forget about the US as a soccer country. Let's face it, we suck at soccer. ANd probably always will. I read today that it has been 14 hours since a striker scored a goal for the US. Aren't strikers supposed to be goal scorers? Apparently none live in the US. Another interesting point I read. In most of the world soccer is the main sport and the best atheletes of those countries naturally gravitate to soccer. In the US soccer is merely an afterthought at best. The best young US athletes gravitate to more popular sports like baseball, basketball, football and many other sports. Soccer is left with second class atheletes. Granted there will be a rare exception now and then. If the above is true it holds little hope for world class soccer in the US.

Well, USA is out and I could care less. In fact I shall celebrate having no more reason to watch soccer. I have endured enough suffering by watching and trying to understand why soccer / futbol is so popular. Well, I am still of the opinion that it is a most boring, useless, game. And have you ever seen such Drama Queens on a field for games? They put the NFL to shame with their expressions of joy and suffering. There should be an award for best acting but the nominees list would be endless. An impossible task. Only thing worse might be a home team announcer when a goal is scored.............. surprised many of them don't suffer heart attacks. Hell even Ice Hockey has a penalty for taking a dive, if soccer had one most the team would have been eliminated before 90 minutes are up. Thank God the USA is out, I no longer have to pretend an interest in the game and can get on with my life by playing FPS on line.

My heartfelt sympathy and understanding. And while to some it may sound cold there comes a time when a persons passing becomes a blessing. Hopefully he is in a better place free of pain and discomfort. For you, remember the good times above all and bring honor to his name.

Rusty, just wanted to add this link as a resource in reference to your comment "I am also willing to bet that that very bird was pulled and washed off with dish soap and is probably doing alright." in a previous post. http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/06/10/oiled.birds.rescue/index.html?video=true?video=true&hpt=C1 It seems the survival rate, unfortunately, is only 1%, not very good.

Congrats to the Blackhawks from this Flyers fan. Biggest loss may have been back when the damn luck of the draw allowed Chicago to draft Kane ahead of the Flyers.

RuStY Its sad but not as bad as katrina to me, human life & property are not in danger, sealife, the beach and buisness are going to be a mess for a while, Im sure more animals lost thier life in katrina. Just my opinion. I am also willing to bet that that very bird was pulled and washed off with dish soap and is probably doing alright. people are focused on making this look as bad as it can look. Its amazing how most people in a crisys just bitch & complain and would probably not lift a finger to clean it up. hate to say it but, WE THE PEOPLE OF AMERICA are the source of this mess & WE should clean it up, its all of our faults, again in my opinion. Best rethink the property comment, this could prove to be disastorous for the economy of the effected states which will in turn impact property. And yes there was mch loss of life and abandoment of animals in Katrina. My wife and I to this day have donated significant amounts to recommended animal shelters in the New Orleans area. You may also sense from my posts I care more for the animals than for the people effected by Katrina. Enough said on that matter.

I also understand it is BP's fault and possibly the fault of government control systems if some failsafe or practice was ignored. None of that takes away from the fact that the current administration basically turned a blind eye to the crisis until four month's after the fact when the media finally found the courage to begin to crticize the Obama administration for it's inactivity. With Katrina the media was after Bush in less than four days. IMHO it is the result of a primarily liberal mindset within the media. Obama has received a much longer grace period than deserved.
-
For all your help Four months before Obama finally begins to get media attention for inactivity in this crisis. With Bush after Katrina it only took 4 days. Not so sure that this might not be even worse than Katrina.

I for one am boycotting BP gas. I am also well aware of the arguments not to boycott BP......... sorry but no go......I am boycotting them forever. It's about the only way Joe Average can make an effective statement against them.

Sweatnbullets Ha Hagar your funny, and Smart, this was a good topic forsure, and counterpoint may not be smart. And sure, we are fine with your decision to not officially join, your fun to game with, and donate to keep the servers up, so All is well ! One thing I learned long ago but forgot to apply here is that Forum Posts are not a good format for discussions requiring logical responses. With Forum posts many things are missed. There is no voice inflection in a forum post so the actual intent of a post is easily misinterpreted. (Smilies do help convey intent) Continuity on a topic is lost because of multiple posts and timely responses. And don't even mention topic derailment, the bane of a serious forum post. I think an old Germanic saying is applicable tome here: "Too soon old, too late smart!" < Foot in Mouth

Well, finally some dialogue about the reasons for the rules as they apply to tags. However, I have learned my lesson and am not about to go into point and counterpoint. Best I let this dog go quietly to sleep.
-
Does anyone understand that this was not started with the focus on XI tags? I simply intended a discussion on the need to entirely quit one clan in order to join another call it Brand Z and Brand Y, it is not about XI. With the exception of competitive matches such as TWL, which I refereenced in my first post, my opinion is that there is little harm in belonging to two or more groups at the same time.
-
Arrgh......I am old enough to know better, the context of the thread gets twisted and lost. In trying to discuss a concept it seems I have hurt feelings or come across as an atheist entering a house of a God. Tags are like religion or politics, often best not discussed.
-
One reply concerned me deeply, that of Bushape who may have implied in his post that I "speak bad of XI". I may have misintrerpreted his comment but wanted to say nothing could be further from the truth. I have enjoyed my time here and hold XI in the highest regard. I also know any other clan members with tags are welcomed on XI with respect and courtesy as are guests like myself. All I am doing is having a discussion on the value or merits of having to quit a previous clan in order to obtain membership in a clan with a tag rule in place. Merely an opinion if you will and not focused on any specific clan, merely dialogue on a policy that is present in on line gaming. I simply think requiring a fellow gamer to basically quit another group or family in order to join another group that has a tag policy MAY be a practice that is out of date and unecessary. Remember I also said wear the tags when on that groups server. I just do not see the harm in a gamer belonging to multiple families or groups. It's not a criticism or anything like that, just an opinion on a practice common in the gaming community. I also acknowledge there is a pride factor in wearing tags, and pride is an emotional factor much like faith, hard to argue against. Again, no XI member should take this personally, it's only an opinion about a policy that I think is unecessary in gaming in general. It just happens to be here because this is where I have been. I have also been through this dialogue on other servers over the years and the open discussion has often been interesting and constructive.

Just a casual observation from an old gamer and perhaps a discussion on clan tags. Why must a potential member be required to drop their clan tags before joining XI? I also do not direct this to XI alone, the question applies to any clan that requires dropping tags before being admitted. I go back to the tournament days with MOHAA when TWL matches were common and the issue of tags may have carried more importance because of the tourmament competition. Of late where a clan has become a group of gaming friends, or social environment, I see the tag issue as less relevant and perhaps even damaging to clan growth and friendships. I can see wearing the clans tags when on the clans server but what real difference does it make if they belong to multiple clans? Hell, I belong to multiple social groups, as perhaps a few of you, and they don't care what other social groups I belong to as a qualification for membership. What good reason is there for gaming clans to be any different? Just seems to me that in a gaming community based on social interaction that the clan tag issue is a non-productive and antiquated rule doing significantly more harm than good. I just think the requirement to drop tags simply does more harm than good. It is easily avoided by playing under different names. The clan tag rule is an old practice that has a life of it's own without any real merit for it's existence. I do not know how it got started but I think it's time to stop. As for the positives of requiring a potential member to drop tags or quit a different clan in order to join a new one I simply cannot see any. Just my thoughts on tags and the related requirements that would apply to any clan with the rule in place. Understand I am not focusing on XI in this dialogue but the whole gaming community on a whole and the clan tag rule which I think has outlived it's usefulness, if it ever was useful.

Out of the kindness of our hearts from Philadelphia, the city of Brotherly Love, we are offering temporary visas to all our Canadian friends who have no home team to root for in Canada's game. No need to file any paper work for the visa, just grab a beer, and maybe a soft pretzel or cheese steak and offer up a toast to the Philadelphia Flyers. For a little pregame entertainment you might watch the HBO special on the broad Street Bullies from the mid 70's. http://www.hbo.com/sports/broad-street-bullies/index.html#/sports/broad-street-bullies/video/preview.html/eNrjcmbOYM5nLtQsy0xJzXfMS8ypLMlMds7PK0mtKFHPz0mBCQUkpqf6JeamcjIyskknlpbkF+QkVtqWFJWmsjGyMQIAWCcXOA== You have to be something special to get a HBO documentary on you. No whining allowed from the hockey purists.

One of these days I may look at the stats.

dawgy best way to do this is through the in game console at the main screen.... ` this key will bring up the console and u can type in the command there.... this will work with any operating system!! I am familiar with the Tilde key method but am still curious why I can't find the Player folder which would contain each character and the Config for that player. It's got to be there somewhere. Working with the file itself gives me more comfidence that I will do it right with no typos or ommissions.

Map for COD 5 DM
Shamu replied to WolfTiS's topic in Call of Duty: World At War's Call Of Duty: World At War Discussion
UnChileno Can you make 1 like a hochey arena...knifes , sticks and pucks only...feel like nailing beers with a stick over the head sometimes.. Just come watch the Flyers bash the Canadiens Ole Ole OLE OLE OLE -
Bob, that info would make a good Sticky for this thread. Different clans are set up different ways, for those illiterates like me, having it as a Sticky would save a lot of searching for directions. Thanks!

I suspect a dumb question but that has never stopped me before Just how do I get my sig to post? I have posted via the various addresses offered by Photobucket but only the link shows. I also looked at many of these pages, but not all, and did not see any instructions. Seems I always bugger something up when posting a sig on a site.

I have 3 player names in my CoD 2 game. But I cannot find a Players folder in Main where the player configs should be located. They are not in App Data either like WAW. Am I missing something?

Binding your fire to the scroll wheel...your thoughts....
Shamu replied to ShadowLady's topic in General Discussion
TE_Jackal I thought you could set up punkbuster to boot for scroll firing, least it used to be that way. Some servers do have PB set to kinck for scroll firing. Some choose to allow it. I have better things to do with my scroll wheel like change weapon and knife. It's sort of like poker at a friends house....... House rules apply.
