Let me put it this way. It’s going to be tough to match last year’s take.

slug or buck shot?

That's my favorite gun. It's an Ithaca Deer Slayer slug gun smooth bore. It always knocks them off their feet. It has loads of stopping power.

I love Ithaca shotguns. I have a trusty old 870. I wimped out and put a fully rifled cantilevered barrel on it a couple of years ago with a Leupold 1-4 power scope. I got sick of having very marginal 75 yard shots. I still always bring my 20" slug barrel with me as a backup option, and in case I am going to be in a situation where iron sights are more appropriate. What kind of slugs do you fire? For my slug barrel I always liked the Rotweil Brenecke (sp?) slugs. For the rifled barrel I have been shooting the Hornady sabots.

My first shotgun, which I still have, was an 12 ga. Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight. It is only one of only two of my guns to which I hold a sentimental attachment. The other is my first deer rifle, a Winchester Model 88, .308. Both still in excellent condition though used extensively. (In the woods I sacrificed my body before hurting my guns.)

Ithaca was bought for me by, at the time, my future wife.

Sort of told me she was a keeper.
