Over a period of 267 days, London was attacked 71 times. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Blitz On 7 December 1941, the USA was attacked by the Japanese Imperial Navy at Pearl Harbor. The following day, the USA declared war on Japan. On 11 December 1941, the Axis powers of Italy and Germany declared war on the USA which was reciprocated the same day. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Attack_on_Pearl_Harbor There was, therefore, in the context of military intervention, no involvement by the USA in the UK or elsewhere during The Blitz. (NB: I am talking about the country and its government not the brave volunteers who came to the UK/ Canada and signed up to fly with the RAF/RCAF in the Eagle Squadrons: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagle_Squadrons) Lend-lease, a programme to send materiel to the UK and other Allied powers was signed into US law on 11 March 1941 (so a little over two months before massive air attacks on the UK ceased), nine months before military involvement of the USA in World War 2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lend-Lease You may wish to note these historical facts before a certain person refers to the London Blitz in the coming days in an effort to exemplify when military intervention is justified... loaderXI 1 Awards
