Here in the states he hosted a very popular game show called The Dating Game which started in 1965. The reason I make mention of his passing is because he was my wife's godfather and good family friend. My late father in law was best friends with Jim and they went to high school together. We didn't get to see him often but always received a Christmas card from he and Nancy, and an occasional call on birthdays. This is obviously more than the announcement of a celebrity's passing. Having read the article, it seems his show was possibly the original one that has spawned lesser imitations through the decades that endure to this day?
