How fun it is or not, i see minecraft being dead very soon if they do not solve there inside problems and create a new *bukkit / spigot idear* All servers are infected by this issue. You can still get the server jars for Minecraft 1.7.x and you can still download every single plugin ever made for Bukkit and Spigot, you just can't directly download new builds of Bukkit of Spigot. That does not prevent the versions everyone is already running from working. That does not prevent servers from working with plugins just fine if they did not upgrade to 1.8 already.
