You've made a fine choice in the Stoner. If it's good enough to be a favorite of the SEAL teams, it's damn good enough for me. I've admired that weapon for many years. The mauser you have is considered the best 98 out there, so good choice. My favorite rifle doesn't come close to the pedigree of either you mentioned. Since before I was a teen I have had one or more of these rifles in my collection, and it's general utility and use day to day has ensured it's slung over my shoulder almost as often as a buck knife is in the front right pocket of my jeans. The Ruger 10-22, in some variation, has hunted and plinked with me since the early 70's. I've had almost every imaginable variation and mod, but my hands-down favorite is the plain-jane factory birch wood stock blued .22 long rifle carbine .. with a couple 25 round Ram-line or Hot-lip banana clips. There are many high end guns in my collection, but none of them have brought me more use and fun than this rifle. Awards
