I've done some testing in relation to DarthCuddlefluff's topic here

There are some slight differences, so I thought I'd update it

For those who do not know, The MineFactory Reloaded "Laser Drill" is an item which generates ores when there's only air blocks (meaning no blocks) between it and bedrock. By adding coloured Laser Focuses to it one increases the chance of acquiring specific ores depending on the colour of the Laser Focus.

Here is a list with the ores which are seemingly increased in chance and their specific focus used.

White

  • Nether Quartz
  • Aluminium (Galacticraft)
  • Aluminium (Tinker's Construct)

To reproduce:

The test was ongoing for 7 hours. The last 2 hours was during seemingly lower TPS. The setup was like previous post with 17 different Laser Drills from MineFactory Reloaded and 4 Laser Drill Prechargers for each Laser Drill equipped with 1 chest each and required power, see images 1 and 2. Each Laser Drill had 6 of the same colour Laser Focus, the colour is illustrated by the colour of the wool in the images, 1 of the Laser Drills had no Laser Focus and served as the control as to how much and what ore one is to expect from the Laser Drill. The number of ore blocks in each chest was then counted and put in an excel sheet. Each ore was compared to the total number of blocks in the specific chest and converted to percentages. These numbers were then compared by removing the number of a certain ore produced by a certain Laser Focus equipped Laser Drill to the number of the certain ore produced by the Laser Drill without any Laser focus. The Laser Drill without any Laser Focus was regarded as the control and therefore the one which the numbers were compared against. All of this is laid out in the Excel sheet which can be found here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1TofTYOZs7zyuL8jPk-kowpH1Qkxi5ajP32akvLpS3cM/edit#gid=397353378

As background, the code to support the inclusion of certain ores as bonus by certain Laser Focus can be found here https://github.com/skyboy/MineFactoryReloaded/blob/master/src/main/java/powercrystals/minefactoryreloaded/modhelpers/vanilla/Minecraft.java

Having done all of this, I can give you all a hint on how to find the exact percentages of getting a certain ore by a certain focus.

  1. In the NEI, search for any of the ore listed.
  2. Left click the ore.
  3. Use the arrows at the top to get to the section for "Laser Drill".
  4. Click the big arrow pointing to the ore.
  5. Now you have all the percentages for all the ores.

Thanks for the peer review here. I appriciate you putting the time into this. Also the screenshots of the chests was a good idea that I didn't use. Nice.
