AA is alcoholics but alcoholics that understand it is a daily struggle. You have 12 steps you complete and in that time many start to lead, teach and guide others. A sponsor. Your sponsor is like you big brother. You have constant contact with this person. No cost.. it is 100% volunteer driven. You feel you need a drink the sponsor acknowledges yes you do... but you dont need to and support words for that moment and will many time drive to ones house or where they are at to support them. One of the only non profit orgs i 100% support because it is not about profits...... but just maintaining.
They understand it is a constant struggle as even the most seasoned drinkers in AA go back to drinking sometime or another then they go back to AA to have people that understand them and will still support them even though they fucked up.
