I did find it odd that when I originally saw the video they didn't show the beheading. Not because I was sorry I couldn't see it (I wasn't) but because these guys usually don't hide anything including the bloodiest parts. I guess the new pitchman for ISIS didn't want to get his hands dirty. Regardless of how they did it the outcome was the same, Foley was murdered. Time to put a few dozen B-52's in the air and carpet bomb all of the territory ISIS holds with some cheap 500 pounders. No need to waste perfectly good (and expensive) smart bombs on these fucks. I don't care what country they originally came from including the US, kill them all.

Our country was founded by people from around the world seeking the freedom to practice the religion of their choice. The trouble is, the rest of the world never caught on to that concept.

Regardless of what the movies and stories of people who don't live here would have you believe, there is no way a piece of California could break off and fall into the ocean. I'd much rather live in earthquake country than hurricane and/or tornado country. Even if we have the big one here, I may have a lot of shit laying broken on the floor, but I'll still have a roof over my head that wasn't blown off in 100+ MPH winds. My house is bolted to its foundation and the sub-floor in mounted on adjustable I-beams, so it would take an 8.5 + earthquake to knock it off.

Looks like the town of Napa took most of the damage, and they've upgraded the quake to a 6.1. Not "the big one" but big enough to remind us that we live in earthquake country and should always be ready for them. Napa is about 20 miles east of where I am and the epicenter of the quake was 6 miles south of Napa. Lots of 150+ year old Victorian era building in Napa and where I live in Petaluma, so those old brick structures don't hold up well when the shaking starts. Looks like about 100 people injured and quite a few critically. When the last big one hit here in 1989 (6.9 magnitude) that killed so many people and destroyed so many building and highways, my wife and I were on our honeymoon in Hawaii. When we got back a few days later it was obvious how bad the damage was. Glad this one wasn't that big.

Well 10 minutes ago (3:30 AM) my family was shaken out of bed by a big earthquake, the biggest I've felt in a very long time. It was between a 5.7 and 6.1 on the "R" scale and made a mess out of shit in our house but everybody is OK. It was centered about 30 miles from my home. Nothing on TV yet as everybody at the networks scramble to figure out what the fuck happened but I'll update as I know more.

The difference between the European hostages and the American hostages is that the EU countries will often pay a ransom to get them released and the US will not. ISIS has been sending emails to Foley's family and employer since last fall demanding 132 million dollars for his release. When they finally figured out that nobody would (or could) pay it they decided to use him for the shock value, murder him and blame it on the US airstrikes. When we released all of those fucks from Gitmo for that piece of shit deserter a few months ago, I guess they thought we would pay up for Foley. They thought wrong.

In the current Israeli/Hamas war, Hamas just admitted today that they kidnapped and killed the three Jewish men back in June in an attempt to spark a war with Israel. Well it worked, and Hamas is purposely launching missiles from civilian areas so that Israel will bomb civilian areas and kill lots of civilians. The more civilians Israel kills the more outraged the world becomes. The military leader of Hamas lives in exile in Turkey (a strong US ally in the region), but we do nothing about it. Just like Osama Bin Laden was living in Pakistan (another US ally) and kept denying it until we just went in and capped the fucker. Like I said before, we should arm the holy fuck out of the Kurds and anybody else in the region that goes against the extremist Islamic views. Fuck all of those assholes that we give millions to in support and then give terrorist leaders a safe place to live and direct terrorist activities around the world.

Just about all armies of western countries have trouble with those tactics, which is why we never actually win anything. During WWII if a handful of Japanese or German soldiers were in a town the allies would level it. Yes it sucks for the civilian population, but at some point you actually see an end to the war. Now terrorists hide within the civilian population and no longer wear uniforms. In the old days if a soldier for the enemy was caught wearing civilian clothes or the wrong uniform, the were executed on the spot.

We should be arming the Kurds, Christians and Yazidi factions in that region. The Kurds in particular have fought on our side since before the first gulf war, and even though they make up several religions (including Muslim) they are Kurds first and fight against the radicals within their ranks. Even though they've been outgunned ever since ISIS moved in, they've fought hard and kept ISIS from taking key areas in their part of Iraq. At the end of WW I when the current borders in that region were established, the Kurds have been without a country to call their own. They've put up with a lot of shit from everybody and still remain strong without the radicalized Islamic views that the rest of the region has. Saddam Hussein even tried to gas them and they still remained defiant. I think it's time they had their own country and we should back them. Who gives a fuck what Turkey and those dipshits we're backing in Iraq think about it.

You received a burn from the sodium hydroxide and hopefully you flushed it well with water after you noticed the burning sensation. You'll probably have some peeling skin in a few days but it will clear up as long as you had no blistering. Sodium hydroxide is just the opposite of an acid which means it's a base (reaching way back to my chemistry days for this). If concentrated enough it's still highly corrosive and just as dangerous as about any acid. If the compound comes in contact with certain metals it can release hydrogen gas which can explode, so no open flame around your drain until its all flushed out.
