  1. Happy birthday CB. I hope you have a great one.
  2. The scary thing is that if the Obama administration had a couple scientists who believed this, it would be scientific fact.
  3. We all laugh when these things arrive in our inboxes, but it's amazing how often people actually fall for them. I heard a couple weeks ago about a man that was arrested by interpol for running one of these scams and he had already made over 10 million dollars. So they do work just often enough to make it profitable.
  4. Congratulations GG and Angus. You're both beating the odds. My wife and I are coming up on 25 years this October.
  5. Once I composed myself, I would beat the holy shit out of that guy for driving like a dumbass.
  6. That's only true with my wife. Any other woman that I don't care about having sex with is always wrong.
  7. Cool! Musky, right?
  8. Some people like smoking good shit.
  9. The main difference is that they need to be small and easily concealed, like in a body cavity.
  10. You're lucky GG. My wife's grandmother is still going strong at 101, lives by herself and takes care of most of her own needs. Unfortunately your grandpa and my wife's grandma are the exception to the rule. Maybe some day humans will all live that long and look like we're 30.
  11. If they were a little softer I would wipe my ass with them.
  12. That is everybody's wish, to sell on a web site that specializes in their product and demands a higher price. Unfortunately eBay sets the price for just about everything today, and even the specialized sellers are on eBay including the person who owns the web site in your link. He must not be doing too well with pipes because it looks like most of his sales are in used camera equipment. http://www.ebay.com/sch/pipes2smoke/m.html?_ipg=50&_sop=10&_rdc=1
  13. Honestly I don't have a clue. Pipes are usually a dime a dozen on eBay unless they're vintage and/or rare. There are currently more than 35,000 of them for sale there. The highest priced pipe I could find on eBay that actually sold was a sixten ivarsson egg pipe with a bamboo a shaft that brought $5,555.55. Not sure why, but I guess somebody saw something appealing about it.
  14. If they didn't use a wood with a soft core such as eldeberry, they would use a bow drill which is something like an arrow shaft with a small stone drill tip. Then attach a bow string to the end of the shaft and spin it back and forth. They were quite good at drilling holes through just about anything from little shells for beads to very large rocks.
  15. I work with Native American artifacts for a living. eidolonFIRE makes pipes to help pay off his student loans.
  16. Here are some of the kinds of pipes I've dealt with over the years. The red and black pipestone bowls are inlaid with pewter.
  17. I like it. The stem style look is more Native American than your traditional European style pipe, but I like that because I'm into Native American artifacts. I think the grain on the bowl is outstanding. Uniform grain is boring. Give me a nice burl with no pattern to it what-so-ever and I like it. Aluminum will always turn things black when you buff it. Ever thought of using mother of pearl or something along those lines? I have a back yard full of abalone shells that could easily be cut and shaped into inlay material.
  18. Really? Beers to avoid because of High-Fructos corn syrup, genetically modified corn and dyes? You will be hard pressed to find just about anything most of us consume that doesn't contain one or all of those things. I'll be perfectly happy living a few years less than average by spending my life eating and drinking whatever the fuck I want. In my experience, most people who live beyond 85 spend their final years shitting themselves and not knowing who they or their families are anyway. My grandmother died at 99 after spending the last 12 years of her life in a nursing home. I would much rather have died at 88 and left all that money to my kids.
  19. I like going old school.
  20. Maybe as long as Google is sucking up (or off) seniors to get his 4 year medal, can I use his blatant ass kissing to ask for my 4 year medal as well?
  21. I've had an eBay account for over 15 years, and in that time my account has been hacked 3 times, and a credit card that I have which is only used on eBay purchases has been hacked twice. I never got an apology, help fixing the problems and they would never admit my information was hacked on their end. I guess with outfits like Target facing tens of millions in fines and lost revenue, they're paying attention now. Last month my wife bought a dress for my daughter online and paid for it through Paypal. She didn't know it at the time but the web site is based out of China, but the dress was drop-shipped from the US. Long story short, the dress wasn't what we ordered, and even though it was shipped from the US, they won't refund the $82 unless we ship it back to China. Any guesses how much it costs to ship a dress to China? $85. I filed a complaint with Paypal which is owned by eBay, and they said they won't do anything unless we return the dress. eBay sucks ass.
  22. Only 4 years? It seems like 10.
  23. Surprisingly, most of those cars don't have a lot of damage compared to what the same accidents would have done to modern cars. I once saw a 30's era sedan hit a 400 pound white tail buck at 70 MPH. The deer practicaly evaporated from the impact, and the car had a little pucker in the grill and the bumper was bent a little bit. Still, cool pictures.
  24. You should be able to pick up a used lathe pretty cheap on Craigslist or maybe even eBay. I sold a 1960's era Sears Robuck lathe for my dad a few years ago for $50 on Craigslist.
  25. Seems like a new piece is the best way to go.
